well, since i cracked my helmet getting hit by that truck the other day, i need to buy a new helmet. i usually buy 1 a year anyway and this one was going on 2 years. the past like 4 years ive had phenmos or however you spell it. a road type helmet but i liked it. im debating on if i want like a mtb helmet with a visor or not.i remember seeing some french rider with an awesome white helmet, had the uci stripes, and just big holes in the front. i think it was a roadie one too but i was wondering if anyone knew what i was talking about...... no buckets for me, my head is already big and a skateboard type helmet would just look retarded on me......

The pneumo, which is probably what you had before, comes with a visor now. It's for the 'classics' where a little protection from the rain is nice.

The Bell Sweep, in the mtb version, is essentially the the road version with a visor on it. It's been on the podium a few times.

The top shit in the Giro line up is the Ionos. UBER light. BIG hole in the front. No visor though.

Take a look at Spiuk, too. I'm not familiar with the line up, but a few domestic road teams ride with them with decent results.

Good luck, buckets suck.

chris you had an atmos, that was your last helmet. get a ionos if you want no visor, or get the new D2 from specialized thats pretty nice as well. before you buy let me know and i'll see if i can get cheap. i'm planing a trip out that way for march 29,30,31 and can bring you a new helmet.

No helmet and no gloves is really the way to go.

No gloves + helmet is actually the way to go.

Fox something or other is a top helmet.

that would be like using a condom in thailand, just not necessary.

Giro Pneumo is really nice, and it comes with a visor now. Bell Sweep is also a good choice.

No helmet and no gloves is really the way to go.

holler (unless its cold, then gloves go on)

if i were to have a dome piece on I'd go Bern. They are pretty casual skate style, but not super bulk, and surprisingly comfortable, great for those times when you have to have protection.
