Drop outs look really short, see if you can get him to add 3 or 4 more inches.

That must have cost a fortune.
Naked had a some fancy fixie (of course) at the NAHMBS that Robin Williams or Lance Armstrong bought for over $10k...
And yeah, stubby dropouts. :momaru:

PS - that NAHBS fixie was slick that lance bought.

no worries morley, this is just a test frame. straight guage tubing, whatever dropouts he had and no paint just to get the right geo. I'm going to get him to make a nicer one later on. Sam definately did an amazing job, seatstay area reminds me of dekerfs.

you can change gearing without working on chain with those dropouts

shit i wish he did that to my chainstays..... the only thing on my bike that's not perfect is the front chainring clearance. I gotta run a 128mm bb just to clear a 22t granny ring.

Your bike looks awesome. naked is cool:)

Its really hard to do a steel bike with short stays and a slim bb. You just can't bend steel safely like that. Morley's and Paul's idea with the steel cnc piece would be a nice touch. My trials bike uses a 100mm shell with a 148 bb. I happen to really like it and don't even notice that part jumping between bikes.

Back to your bike the Liam. Whats the geo? Looks very nice and I'm looking forward to getting mine back.

Dang!

the geo ended up being a little off what i wanted, but that's because the info i recieved on the fork i got was wrong...no fault to Sam and we'll correct this with the next frame. so it came out like this:
387 chainstays (or 376 if i take 1/2 a link out)
1049 whelbase (was hoping for closer to 1060)
+35 mm bb
73 head angle

it has a 68mm shell, and i'm running a 128 bb, but becasue of my ffw not crank clearance. a good amount of tire clearance too, mostly cause of the fact that it's 24" wheel. chain line is kinda off with my paul ss hub, but oh well. I'm just fine tuning the build so i'll have pics soon.

Brett what do you mean by getting yours back?

Brett what do you mean by getting yours back?

Kind of a long story. Basically I'm riding a Planet X right now. I'm really liking that old school geometry right now. Unfortunately its a Planet X and has a big crack where they all crack. The only way to get something similar was to go 24 inch, which is alright I guess, but I'd rather stay 26 if the option was there. So I was all set to order a 24uk that I decided on when I thought aboots taking my old, newest red Peyto trials frame that is just sitting there and getting it shortened. I'm changing it from a 1065 down to a 1035. Well I guess thats where Sam comes in. He's changing it since Paul is out of the business.

Have you done much riding on yours? A 1049 wb bike with a 73 headtube isn't really a short feeling bike. What did you take your inspiration from for the geometry. I can see why you got a proto done. Those are some fairly unique geo specs. Not in a bad way tho. The 24 inch wheels and steep head tube eliminate most frames on the market.

you're gonna laugh...i got the geo by taking the different wheelbase and chainstay lengths from all the bike i rode for trials, and took an average from the streety and trialsy for 26" and then the same for the 20". Than i broke it down into inches for wheel size and found what it would be for a 24" wheel. So basically its an average of every bike i ever rode. as for the head angle, it thought i would try it to see if it worked as well as on my last desalvo with a long wheelbase. I was about to buy a reset, but i wanted horizontal drops and no seat. Once i decided on naked i wanted to do it a little different. So far i haven't rode the bike mcuh becasue of the all the snow and ice covering everyhting but the roads. anyways here are a few pics after the build. (before i cuts the dropouts down)

Beauty.

Reminds me of my Desalvo when I first got it... I stare at it now and a tear comes to my eye when I see the cracks not fixed still. I'll send it in one of these days. :wtc: I fucking love the ride of steel.

I had that same Desnapo, i mean desalvo.

clean clean claen

that's exactly what i wanted, and what Sam delivered. No more chunky aluminum. Weight on the frame was 4.7lbs, total bike 21.6lbs

Agreed. Who did your rim job? Did you hire it out or are you talented enough to do it yourself?

Great looking ride by the way!
