Well I am building up a set of wheels.
My question is which rims to use?
It's between the Zhi or Dx32.
I currently have a DX32 on my bike and I have never had any problems with it.
I know that the Zhi rims are about 100g lighter but if I was going to go with the DX32 I would probably drilll some holes to save the weight.
My issue is cost, I can get brand new DX32 rims for $25.00 and the Zhi for double that and then some.
Cost to weight, worth it?
Colors don't matter to me as I am going with black.
g owith dx 32. 100g is nothing you will notice

I feel the width is more important than the weight. If you're happy with your current DX and don't need anything wider, stick with it.

I agree that the reason to change would be the increase in width. If you ride natural a lot then you'll probably find the width worth the price, but it doesn't do much for urban riding.

Or you could get DOB rims :)

Why not Try All rims? They are quite light and wide.
Ive had a DX32 for about 4 years on two different bikes. I weigh 95kg and am not smooth.
This with about 50+ grinds and years of natural tells me DX32 is the way to go.

Well I have decided to go with the DX32 as it is the cheapest option. Plus not to mention that I have had one on my bike for 3 years and it holds up fine.
I was just curious to see what people thought of the Zhi rims, and weather or not to go with a trials specific rim.
IF and when I get the DX32, is it worth it to drill it out? I have read all of the posts pertaining to this, but is the weight savings actually worth it?
What are peoples opinions on a good tire set up for urban and some natural, but mostly urban?
Opinions greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

dx32 are bombproof. I have the same rear dx32, 3 years and still going strong. I true the wheel like twice a year, and only because i run my vee pads very very close to the rim.
Just drill the dx32 if you feel like it. They can take it.

my oppinon is that drilling is just a head thing. You wont notice it after 5 min of riding. But you will think "hey i drilled it,so i should be able to make it up that wall now"
Tyre wise, you cant really go wrong with a Maxxis 2.35 for urban stuff. But then again, I know people that have ridden natural comps on hookworms, so I wouldnt worry too much about it.

maxxis 2.35 front 2.5 rear... loves it. Urban or natty.
DX32 = Good choice, you'll be glad you didnt get a ZHI rim. A rear one would be fine for natty if you are smooth, but will be a multi sided shape after a month if your a basher... I had a rear one for about two months and the brake pads started to touch the tyre in places it was so outta shape... Weak
