It is incredible that you can tell the strenght of the frame by just looking at a picture of it! :eek3: In aluminum trials frames must to use gussets. will you trust to perform an front gap with this frame? i wouldn´t. the new trials riding style the abuse during the gaps to front are frequently, so, the trials frames must to have the gussets.
And about Brisa, they don´t have yokes, so every brisa cracks on chainstays.
Although do gussets indicate a stronger frame?
In some case, yes, but not always. The thickness of the frame tubes is no more than 3 mm and the gussets are normally the same thickness as the tubes. If you use the gusset, the tube beneath the gusset cannot be welded. You just have more thickness but the same welding bead area. Most frame cracks occur in the welding bead, not in the base material. But the gusset decreases the flexibility and the longer welding bead requires better heat treatment. So in most cases, the gusset doesn't help. Only the well designed and carefully fabricated gusset is welcome on the frame.
