So I had a couple days off from the show with a winter cold, and I was able to use that time to piece together one of Frank the Welder's Viris prototype frames. I was very fortunate to get this opportunity as Frank is one of the best craftsmen the bicycle industry has ever seen. Needless to say, I feel very honored to be able to take part in the creation process of the newest FTW project.

So, to the bike. I will have to declare this is by far the stiffest and most responsive frame I have ever ridden. Even after the Coustellier I tried, this takes the prize. It feels like absolutely no power is lost through frame flex. It took a second to get used to, but I will have to say this is a very good thing. You should be able to ride easier and with less effort when not losing your force through flex. The rear brakes also felt perfectly rideable without a booster, due to the oversized beam seatstays that are the bedrock of this frames performance. They really keep everything in line and look super original too.

The geometry was solid yet conservative UCI. I am pretty used to the long feeling of this style geometry at this point, and the best I can describe this bike is a little snappier version of the Simtra.

I just messed around with it in one little spot near my house, but it feels like an extremely high quality frame that is super solid and very high performance.

I look forward to getting more time on it and suggest that if you like craftsmanship and quality construction, you contact FTW.

I'm on the list to get one of these frames and they look so sweet. You're not going to run a rear disc?

sweet,

I thought about it also, but I can't spend $900 on a frame right now.

Lance, how many years have you been running that fork? or do you have a stockpile of those forks at your place? I saw you running a blue frame and fork a few years back.

glad you like it! I have pieces of those all over my shop! I recently redisigned the lower yoke to fit more gearing options. I am building one with custom geo . I will post photos of that one shortly. (pending owners approval)

How cool is it that there is a frame builder of this caliber building CUSTOM trials frames.

Seriously cool.

as far as forks...yeah, I have a few lying around.

But Frank has the ultimate rigid fork in the works too and that will be the next fork for me...and I'm guessing the last one I will need for a long time.

That’s if he stays away from the aluminum steer (like posted a few weeks ago),,, or there might be another Brisa epidemic.

Even though I got impatient and picked up a diff bike, this thing still makes me drool...

Oh yeah, those grips are damn fine.

I think I am going to be investing in a bunch of those and some Viris frames in the very near future.

Trials just keeps getting better and better!
I'm glad I stuck with it.

I couldn't help myself but laugh with delight when I saw these pics on the Viris. I saw the frame over the summer at the Efta and couldn't believe my eyes... I knew it had potential. And now to see Lance killing it with this frame is just :eek5:. Hell yea. Some day when theres a mod I'm all over it.

Peace
