I'm in Richmond, VA. Its a 2hr drive from Washingtin, D.C. We would like to get a fall series going by next year which would be great fro what your looking for. Also, we have a place here in richmond that has endless natural to ride!!

If you ride at a high level in Europe and are looking for a comp that will challenge you, the US is not where you want to go. The level of riding here is not high compared to Europe and our 'Pro' sections will likely not be worth the trip. I know event organizers have considered making sections that would be more challenging for European riders but then the US riders have to ride sections that are likely beyond their limits and this can discourage them from attending the event. That of course is not good for the sport in the US.

However, there is plenty of terrain that would challenge any rider and would be likely be worth the trip.

Competitions, even national competitions, can have 5-10 riders and it wouldn't be a surprize...really bad turn outs in america. I would probably plan it around a spot with great riding and a few good local riders...where that would be, I don't know. Most american trials riders are terrible, unfortunately, but they are (compared to europe). What time of year will you be coming? The US is huge....here in winter its 25c and in the north east (more worthwhile to visit) it will be 0c or colder. It isn't easy to get around here. I can drive for 12 hours and not get anywhere. The country is almost 5,000 km wide, everyone knows this but a lot of europeans are still amazed at how big it is when they come here- so you can spend a lot of time traveling and not being in one place, which can suck.

Are you coming primarily to ride? Is there anything you would like to see here, sight seeing?

Prize money, usually you're looking at a t-shirt for first place. Or a hundred bucks, nothing worth while.

It sounds worse when you spell it out...

The truth hurts. Unfortunatly the trials scene in the US is a bit more underground now. When I started competing in 1996-1997 there were 30 people at a small event, per catagory and more at larger ones. Now the events are hard to find. When you do find them there are only a few people to ride with (usually who you drove with) ;)

But this is our fault, nobody else's.

Like Moment said. Find a nice place to ride with a fun group of people and it will be a blast. Dont forget to sight see as well!

Skip the riding and just visit. A competition is likely not worth your time, but you could maybe plan it around a group ride with a few guys.

What do you want to see/do?
Mountains, wilderness? Beaches? Big city? Rednecks?

Well, if your comign from sweden I'd probably pick somewhere on the east coast. You could visit new york or boston. And there are probably the highest concentration of riders there in the US
