It's 2 weekes away on the 15th of September. Here's the link to the park for camping info and directions.

We'll have Expert, Sport and beginner lines. They will be serving burgers after the event just like the past few years.

Where are you guys staying?
Steve from KC wants to come down and my brother and I were going to bring our kids and watch the comp. I'll bring my bike if my brother agrees to watch my son long enough for me to do some riding, otherwise I want pics and vids of the expert class.
All the online reservation stuff shows "no units available" for camping etc...
We've got all the camping stuff, we just need to verify a place to drop. I'll call the park number today, but I thought you may know a little more about the area.
My son and I will sleep in car if we have to, so I plan to go no matter what.
Best thing to do would be to call. I'll find out how big the camping area is we have if we don't stay out at Tom's place.
We plan on staying at Tom's Thursday night and camping at Devils Den State Park Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Should be some good drunk hikes during the weekend. I'll post more info when I find out how many camp sites were reserved for us.

OK... looks like there may be a couple of campsites open... I'm waiting to hear back from the park folks. Where is the comp within the park?... so I can try to get as close as possible. Maybe it's all close enough so it won't matter.

Steve,
I was planning on you riding with us. If you want. My brother said we should all be able to fit in his SUV.
I still don't even know if he'll be going, so it may just be my son and I... so we'll have room either way.
I thought about staying Saturday night too... just to avoid a late trip home. Would that work for you?

i talked to tim scott at devil's den again today. we've got 2 sites reserved friday and sat night. also, i would definitely suggest a good headlamp and an old pair of jeans for anyone who wants to join me for a some "intoxicaving" :naughty:

How many riders are expected at this point?
Not sure, I'm hoping 15. Looks like the weather is going to be very nice. Highs around 80 and lows in the low 60's.
Chris Pitts is supppose to be there to show us how to ride. He's trying to win 100$ by beating Stan. Even though he is a pro:rofl: and Stan is in Expert, I'll put my money on the Standa.
Should be a good time with the late night intoxicaving.

Somehow I don't see my son and I intoxicaving. But, we'll be more than happy to hold down the fort. Naturally, upon your return, he'll want to know if you encountered any werewolves, mountain lions, etc... and did you shoot them.
not sure about mt lions but we might see some big hairy beavers. should we discuss this with your son for you?

Let's hold off on that. He doesn't turn 4 for another 3 weeks.
I want him to like trials and the crazy dudes that ride.

What to bring? I was just putting my camping gear together and was wondering how far to get food? Do I need to pack all the cooking gear or just the basics(tent, sleeping bag, beer, something to sit on, ect...)?

I (Ed Schilling) reserved a site as well for Friday and Saturday. Not sure where it will be in proximity to the 2 already reserved... they don't specify a location.
Jeff or Jason, once you get there on Friday or whenever, feel free to ask the park people to put all 3 sites together if they can.
We won't be arriving until 8 or so Friday night.
Patrick

We should definitely all camp together. the more the merrier...
Someone else bring a real bike so that I'm not doing shuttles by myself.. You don't have to register in the race to ride the DH course. WE'll just hop in someones truck and take rips on the way up:naughty:
very tempting. i might just shuttle you up and take the rips. not sure if the ss would work for this.
Patrick
09-12-2007, 10:03 AM
the SS would definitely work. The pics I saw showed a guy on a hardtail.. The biggest drop will be like 2 feet. you'll be glad you did
not sure if I can get 3 trials bikes and 2 mtb bikes in the exterra. we'll figure it out when I pick your bikes up tonight. you might need to take your mod on your roof rack.
Patrick
09-12-2007, 10:27 AM
i'm mos def taking the mod on the rook rack
what time on sat? drunk friendly noonish?
everywhere I read it says 3 PM for the trials comp. Just show up right around noon, I might try to start it a little earlier but right now it's at 3.

JEff says it takes about 5 hours from Dallas, so maybe we'll push back our departure time till 4?? What time will you be at Toms, Jason?
And how do I find it from the park, or have you already posted directions?:(
tks man
what time you getting there? we'll probably be setting sections by 10 Friday morning. we'll probably ride after that.

i will prolly go straight to Tom's from work which would put me there about 7:30. as far as directions, i dont know the address but it's easy to find. It's called the L.A.N.D. and it's just outside of Fayetteville. I need to call Tom and get the street and number for you guys then i'll post it up for ya.

09-13-2007, 12:48 PM
directions to tom's: continue north on 540 past the devils den exit and continue into fayetteville. get off on the wedington/hwy 16 exit and take a left heading west. after about 8 miles or so you'll pass a volunteer fire station then soon after you'll come to county road 659. take a left here. there is also a "highland church" sign at the intersection. continue for about 1/4 mile or so and it's on the right. you'll see the green fence and the l.a.n.d. sign. just park and go on up. the building next to the house is where we'll be crashing. there's a pool table, etc. in there. tom said he made 4 beds for whoever. the huge building has the indoor setup. if you're in town before i get off at 7 just go on over whenever.
