Since BT Poland is one of the most inovative trials brands I'm interested in seeing what are they cooking.
Rav, care to show a sneak preview of what you got up your sleeve?
We would relly like to show BT RAVen 8.0 samples/specs, customers are the most important for us, but after noticed situation with MONTY 2008 and RIP OFF DOB on the market before official MONTY 2008 production, we decided to show it when new BT RAVens 8.0 2008 frames will be mass produced and delivered to Poland. We'll publish 2008 frames and parts specs at the end of September 2007.
Realy sorry and thanks for patience/understanding.
Smart move :) Then again you guys did an amazing job with the 7.0 I just wish I had one :)

I had just PMed Rav about the new Raven 8.0 frame before I found this thread. I realy like the looks of the Raven 7.0 and I regret I did not by one earlyer this year when I bought a frame. I cant wait till he posts some info or pics here on the forum or his site, bet it will be an awsome frame. Wounder if he will make matching forks again like he did to the Raven 6.0. I just hope he keeps thoose lovely looking dropouts till the 8.0 version.
By the way, he did not revel anything when I PMed him, guess we have to wait till late september. Maybe we can make some guesses here and at the end of september we will see how close we came.

Rav, you should have +20mm or +40mm reardisc mount on the new frame!

Pleaaase make the WB on the 8.0 a tad longer, 1080-1090. The 7.0 was absolutely perfect other than that.

I would love to see that too. I found an old post by Rav where he mentioned that they where testing that for the next frame.

Fair enough, must beware of the thieves :)
RAVen 7.0 was almost spot on except it was a tad too short, disc mount wasn't +40 and it had no integrated brake booster.
And a minor remark, this can be totally personal, there wasn't any flow in the design of the frame, front triangle and the rear triangle didn't match.
Looking forward to September.
This thread is pretty funny though.

Maybe we will see a short and a long version again, with thoose nice dropouts.
Short 1060-1080
Long 1080-1100
That would be nice, maybe a disc only version with the lower toptube seen on the 6.0. I hope Rav sticks to the anodised finish instead of regular paint/powdercoat finish, maybe a few to choose from.

Rumor has it that the 8.0 will be amazing. I love my 7.0 light. It's the best bike I've ridden. It's flickable like a 1060 but taps like a 1090. I am very impresed with it.
It will be nice to see that the rear disc tab will be a +40 (I hope)

So Rav its getting closer to end of september now, any delays or will we see the Raven 8.0 realy soon?
Will it have v-brake mounts?
Here's hoping

I rode the "light" version of the 7.0 and thought,.. "Damn, if only it didn't have all that crap in the rear dropouts/disc tabs this thing would be super-rad light."
The only thing I wish for in the Raven 8.0 would be the ability to use King Fun Bolts without any modifications.

It would be really cool for it to be around 1100. Length is the only reason I won't but the 7.0.
It would be really cool for it to be around +35. BB rise is the only reason I won't buy the 7.0.

and same on the ability to use funbolts. I'm about to buy a new frame soon, when will this be released?
wimmeretz
09-25-2007, 12:20 PM
for me, geo would have been just perfekt, but no fun bolts, no care...
i would like to see a simple but lighter tensioning-system, like on the new MBK frames, i know, this wouldn´t be the very best for using rear disc...
and it would be so nice, if the frame would get a bit lighter - i think 2 kg is a little too much, i wouldn´t care about a little flex:riaa:
but nevertheless, BT 7.0 was one of the most interesting and innovative frames ever made for our sport...

I think BT should focus more on weight, but still remain strong. Tough one dat is. I love the bend on the toptube, but the '07 looked a lill'high considering most other frames nowadays.

disappointing though.. was really looking forward to this frame

Lower rear stays doesn't fits 50-52mm rims (new 2008) by cranks magura cylinder clerance.

Killer! It's hard to judge the TT bend until we see a complete build, but I love BT for what it is, and, in my opinion, it's a very original design....Want straight tube? Get one of the other 208345847 frames available. I like exclusivity.
Rav, how are the funbolts held in the dropouts? Will it only take 12mm axles now, or is there a slot for getting them in?

what's the bb rise with a normal person fork?
+20 instead of +40 ftl though. With +40 you can still use a front caliper (no adapter) to choose between 185 and 203. With the +20 if you want a 203 you have to use an adapter. I'm skeptical of rear disc 185 holding under heavy people.
looks good
what's the bb rise with a normal person fork?
BB height: +20 mm with 420 mm fork (420mm from hub axle to bottom head) ZOO FORK 2007/2008 (Fork is 405mm in real but its added bottom headset 15mm
I've done for You some simulation how fork length influence to BB high.

I'd REALLy love to see a sleek, straight top tube, disc only bike from you, as I am always going to run a rear disc on any frame you make with the current dropout design, magura caliper clearance isn't an issue for me personally.....

Id love a disc only frame from BT!!
that way it could be like the modified pic i did above but also lower in rear triangle as clearance of calipers wudnt be a concern... will be keen to see what the future holds.
Bike does look nicer built. imo it looks bit weird tho... like the front triangle doesnt match the rear. but thats only aesthetics. as long as it rides well.
(hope im not sounding like a .. cockney reject! lol)
At first I was like WHAT?! but the more I look at it, just like the 7.0 when it first came out, it looks awesome.
The 8.0 kind of reminds me of a moto trials. Something about that bend on the top tube extends naturally to the rear wheel nicely. For me at least the geometry sounds just right.

Please kindly note that we desinged this frame shape not for fun. BT frame should fitt all 2008 parts for example rim 50mm wide.
Typical 47mm rim is a real problem if you have HS magura brake, that's why Deng designed shorter Dengura calipers for fix crank clerance problem at super low frames. 2008 season brings new rims 50mm wide so only higher rear triangle fix that problem.

Perhaps, instead of a horizontal and a vertical frame, MAYBE next time a disc only, super low straight frame and a rim brake bendy top tube frame...... Just an idea.....

Dropout fits any bolt on 10mm axle hubs. All Deng range, hope pro/pro II, BT, VIZ, DMR, etc.... and CK 12mm funbolts
This system doesn't fits quick relese hubs.

Ok, looks wise its not exactly what i Personally like.
But its a bike designed for a purpose and im sure it does it very well.
There are bugger all frames with v mounts these days anyways... higher bbs - go get a Gu or similar, etc etc..
I think it could have been better, but apart from looks, its definately another improvement from the BT camp. Good job. Would definately buy a bt if it had straight tubes and disc only :D haha
( Ok, but there is no frame, which meets my high requirements. :)
All I need is 380, +30 (+35), min. 1085, integrated booster, CK compatiblity... Not that special thing. Still I don't know a frame like this. Czar '07 is the only one, but I had to file the drop-outs to fit CK... )
