I just wanted to let you guys know htat there is a new place to get some trials specific clothing at great prices!!!
www.trial1wear.com (http://www.trial1wear.com)
Hello all. We have just opened up an online store which will be selling a range of trials specific clothing and riding gear. The new retailer is Trial One! www.trial1wear.com (http://www.trial1wear.com)
We are currently the primary distributor for a new and affordable trials specific gear made by Trident bikes.
Trial One will be expanding its selection in months to come and plans to offer a large range of trials specific clothing from several different manufactures all at an affordable price.
I have personally tested the shoes, shorts and shin guards. Please take the time to read my product reviews. Thanks.
Reviews
When I first received the package I was immediately impressed with the look and quality of each product.
SHOES
The shoes are extremely similar in look to Ribo’s trial shoe. It uses a solid ratcheting system and two Velcro straps for securing the shoe. Like the Rebo’s, the shoes also have a built in neoprene ankle support which fits nice and snug. Even the soles bare the same style tread as the Rebo’s. The soles were a little stiff at first, like any shoe, but after a few rides they have loosened up quite nicely.
In all, the Trident, Mr. Comp trial shoe offers the same great performance found in the Rebo’s but for half the price. The way I look at it is you can by two of these shoes for the price of one set of Rebo’s.
The shorts are by far my favorite product in the line. For the longest time I’ve wanted a pair of the Euro style long shorts that we’ve seen all the Koxx riders wear. The only problem is that no one stocks them and if you can get them they will cost you around $100 after shipping.
SHORTS
The Trident trials shorts offer the same look and performance for half the price!!
I’m extremely impressed with how light and comfortable these shorts are. There is a belt-less latching system and special stretch material in the butt area for pre-loading. The great thing is that when riding in these shorts you can’t even tell their on……that’s how comfy and light they are. The material is also very absorbent and does a great job pulling the sweat away from your body. I love these shorts and have already picked up several pairs for myself!!!!
SHIN GAURDS
How many of us are currently riding with no protection…lol. If you’re like me, you’ve thrown your heavy, bulky, and over intrusive shin pads away long ago. Sure, it’s much more comfortable with no pads, but every time I ride I know I’m one slip away from stitches…..it’s not a matter of if…it’s a matter of when.
Finally there is a shin pad that was made specific for trials. The pads are essentially thin neoprene stockings that also contain a thin, flexible rubber insert that gives just enough protection where it’s needed most. The best part about the shin guards is that they are extremely light and you don’t look like a complete fool with them on. I will never where another set of clunky pads again!! There specifically made with the trial rider in mind….what more can I say?

call them what you want, but "capris" is three words less than "euro style long shorts."

You need to sell gloves, socks and moisture-wicking shirts (i.e. not "jerseys"), too.

I don't have first hand expierence but they look really breathable, and thin. MUCH lighter than any other shin pads I've ever seen. Hence, the reason I'm getting them.

Yes, they are very light and breathable. Their made of an extremely thin material which really help with the comfort factor. Of course if you sweat like I do there's nothing in the world that can prevent that kind of soaking..lol.
I've not been bothered by them like other non trials specific pads I've used in the past......I hope that answered your question??

I've had good luck with the Trident shoes so far. I know several people whom have Ribos and each have complained about the durability and lifetime of the Ribo shoes.
The bottom line is that its obvious most trials specific shoes have a relatively short life span. At least at 79.99 a pair for the Trident shoes you can my two for the price of one set of Ribo's which wear just the same as all the other trial shoes on the market!!
As for the shin gaurds..read the original post. It is a stocking with a slim plastic insert that cover the shin wear it is most likely to get injured. The stocking rises just above the knee......the plastic insert is similar in protection to other pads out there.....your fox pads are perfect for trials, I'm sure:greddy: .
Muddyfox, JohnGlazer,Mikeyr89,Dang and others that were at the comp all had a chance to see the product first hand and they ca attest as that these are decent products.
Thanks for sharing your reputable personal opinion.:hsugh:

The shoes looked like they were just as good quality as Ribos. You can't judge by the price. other shops sell these for approx. $140 US. They sell the shorts for about $80 US. Besides, everyone knows that high prices don't always mean better product anymore.
shinguards enormous??? what the hell are you talking about? Its not plastic inside it. My 661 Veggie Wraps, which I consider to be some of the smaller shinguards out there, are larger than the trident ones. Are you even thinking of the right product?
why don't you wait to bash a product until you try it yourself?
I know that muddyfox is riding with ribos right now, and is ordering some of the trident shoes. Maybe he will be so kind as to write a comparative review once he has tried them out.:wiggle:

I always say some protection is better than none. I havnt had any pad shin accidents lately...mainly becuase the shoes do not slip form my pedals...they really offer great grip.(I run cheap Diamond back platforms).
I'm working on getting pants made that will bare the TrialOne name and a design much like the koxx styled pants. I will keep you guys posted!!

I think that these pads are designed more to prevent the cheese grater effect of the pedal. I bet you will still feel the smack of the pedal though.
I had some shin guards similar to these, except they were the normal velcro wrap around style, and my shins never got torn up, but some of the bad hits would still hurt a bit, just from the blunt smack.

That's cool...i really just need something to keep from breaking the skin.. i can handle the rest of it. The comments "dude what'd you do to your shins" are getting old and i keep re-opening cuts so they never heal......i'll figgure out my financials in the next few days and see if i can fit em in my trials budget ;)

I bought a pair of Trident trial shoes some months ago: they are comfortable and have better grip than Try All shoes I used before them...but I almost destroyed them in 3 weeks of riding (4-6 rides per week). Definitively I'll never buy anything else by Trident becuase there's no gain since their quality reflects their cost!! My next shoes will be Ribo or Try All again (that looks 100 times better than Ribo's and other gay shoes).

What was deystroyed? He has changed the material of the sole from the early shoes that were produced. He now uses a much harder sole(takes a little longer to break in) that comes with a 3month warranty. This may have fixed any issues with the soles of the shoe.......I cant really speak to anything else at this point.

No, the sole is ok. The problem is the shoe, they already begin to have some holes to the side and the seams (not sure if used the right word) are broken in some points. Anyway as I said in advance the sole is not bad, more grip, more comfort and more durable than Try All (black) for sure.

All the shorts are the same waist size (not sure what the actual size is). The different sizes vary in length, the waist is one size fits all.
Ryan, do you know what the max waist size is for these shorts?
va_tick
08-21-2007, 08:54 PM
38-40 for the Lg's(6ft+) and they would be "very" tight. If your less than 6ft tall and you get the mediums there is probably no chance of fitting in them if your waist is over a 38.

They fit well and just drop down below my knee cap. They are tight, but not euro gay tight or anything. Elastic stretch in the back is nice as is the built in belt. Keeps your ass crack out of sight on those big sidehops.
mesh material on the inside feels nice on the skin. :greddy:
