I am going to build up my Z1 stock frame and I am contemplating gear rations. I am leaning towards 18/15, I mainly ride street and a tiny bit of natty.I have simtra bars/stem to throw on there,a king headset, king rear, king front, orange disc fork, monty stock FFW cranks w/ZHI bashring,FSA ISIS BB,pedals are what's around, louise front disc with plaz pads +plaz rotor,HS33 rear with MOE pads, ouri lock on grips,Maxxis tires..?,chain? usually run a KINK..lol,this ride will also have a rennen to make it a SS.
So I am still thinking about the right chain to run, gear ratio and tires.

not a fan of kmc chains (lots of ppl do like em tho) iv had tonnes of luck with wipperman chains and sram.
i use 18/15 on my karbon - feels spot on, but the best thing to do is try a few diff setups til ur happy
tyres - michelins are good, tryalls are brilliant especially on natty. If you wanna save weight the schwalbe big betty 26x2.4 is few 100gms lighter and stil good soft compound.
have a look around at wat ppl are using - check bike pics etc - and ride as many different setups as possible...
good luck:)

I'll probably end up going with a KMC BMX chain on it, I use a lot of torque when I ride.As for tires, I'm going to run Maxxis, poss high rollers, already have a lot of them in stock..
thanks for all your input,

If you're going to ride mostly street 18-15 will be good. Most people who run 18-16 do it because its lighter for natty reasons.
18/15 for urban for sure. I want to try 18/16 for nat & see how that feels. I was going to suggest Big Betty too but with street they wear out so fast like Try-All's.

At the moment, I just designed a kick ass deisgn for the frame and once it's finished being painted and built.
I'll throw some pics of it online,

the main thing to be concerned with isnt really the tooth amt on the rings but the ratio
a 3 tooth spread is the best all around set up ive had
a 4 tooth spread can be better for some urban cuz u can gap way farther relying on the drive train.
on newer high bb frames a 2 tooth spread ive heard is really too easy and u get nowhere.
