So my hip has been in serious pain for about 4 years, several bad crashes and what not. Now it’s got the arthritis you see. So I have been to years of physio, chiropractors, acupuncturists and I take some fairly serious meds for the pain. Anyway I am 29 and the doctor says "you'll probably need a hip replacement sailor." So I am looking into this here...

This fella resurfaces the joint rather than having it fully replaced. So I guess I was hoping maybe someone out there has a little experience with this or has some 500 year old relative having had this process done. Doctors tell you a lot of things, but real experience speaks far more volumes. I have done quite a bit of research and surprisingly, not too many trials riders at the age of 29 have had hip replacements. And if you even remotely try to describe trials to a doctor…well you all know the look. So I am moving to a broader forum. What was there outcome? Can I still ride trials once this is done? I can’t really expect too many relevant answers to these questions but it’s worth a shot I figure?? Maybe someone with a similar but different kinda deal...

Bit of a catch 22 – can’t ride because of the pain, might not be able to ride because of the possibility of wrecking the replacement. It’s a real ass wrangler.

Thanks,
Dallas

Hey Dallas, sorry to hear your old:hsugh:.
I don't know any bike trials riders that have had hip replacements, but I do know of a few moto trials guys that have. Dave Fair (GasGas Importer in BC) has had one and he rides 2 to 3 days a week. He is in his late 40's early 50's. He rides senior45, he doesn't win but he has a great time.

Get used to the beeping sound at the airport Dallas.
