I don't have all the details so the rest of you who were present will have to post into this,..

Turnout was less than less year but mostly due to spliting up the Beginner/Sport and Expert/Pro categories into Friday and Saturday respectively. The Beg/sport was affected the most. But with a turnout of some 60 odd riders it's still a lot of seatless bikes.

OH WAIT! The winner of Expert Class had a seat?!?! And a Suspension fork? NO WAYZ! Yes ways. It wasn't No way rey, although he was present.

Who's got the results?

..gotta keep em real right?

Maybe it'll show up here: http://www.baiabros.com/Trialsworx2007.htm

Darkside approves.

Best trials event I've been to in a long time.

I had a great time thanks to Aaron, Jeff, Joel, Morley, and everyone else.

Still up here in Whistler. Got private acess to the Airdome (foam pit) tonight.

Shits gonna be crazy!

I left the bike at home this year and filmed constantly. I got most all the sections done by expert and pro riders. My first time getting to watch Lenosky ride in person and it was great. Lutze looked good too. I can't remember your name Darkside but I remember Joel telling me your name for otn and you rode very well. I can't remember for absolute sure but I think I got some footage of you. My adobe has been giving me some issues lately but hopefully I can figure it out this weekend and get a basic video up to show the sections. Long technical sections, I don't think that surprised anyone.

Kev it was nice chatting with you durring the comp, if you're ever up this way again feel free to drop a line and we'll hook up for a ride. All in all the event was pretty fun, and nice to catch up with lots of riders.

Brett, I'm Kevin Drake. Sorry I didn't get the chance to be introduced to you. So many people there that I must have known of, but wasn't able to recognize. Kind of a trials rider overload.

Learned how to flip tonight. Not just kinda get around... I was landing 3/4 of the way into the pit, nothing but tire. Pics and video will be coming.

So recap of the last couple days:

Podiumed in Trialsworx (first comp since colorado 2004)
Spent canadian prize money on beer for friends
Ridden every trail here and cleaned just about every feature on them
Hung out with some old school trials guys
Met a lot of cool new people
Had my share of crashes (including a high speed slide on my armour-less shoulder on a fireroad)
Learned how to flip
Hooked up with a hot chick (thanks Joel! I owe you one)

And I still have one more day to ride and one more night to party.

Already can't wait for next year!

Anyone with a seat and suspension on their bike should be doing slalom, not trials!!!!But not too bad for the big guy, eh?

Sounds like an awesome time guys. Congratulations.

After watching one of the trialstars demo vids, I am not surprised that Jeff and Steve did so well. Way to go team Simtra. You guys are awesome.

Aaron was riding well, we were all just getting killed by the time limits. He made good use of your bike though and they treated each other well.

hello?

Only aboots an hour and a half of it...

I'll get around to it this weekend. I can barely walk so I won't be able to do anything else.

what happened?

Bmx racing. I was goofin around seeing how much of the track I could manual and looped a bit. I landed on my feet and rolled my ankle I guess. Instead of side to side I bent it strait ahead tho. Hopefully its just a really bad sprain. Waitin on the xray results.

I remember going to the track with you guys and you being pretty damn fast.Try to stay off your ankle man, they take forever to heal..it just sucks..

Nice pictures and good to see that oldschool can still kick ass. sounds like an awesome event with great people. If wish someday I could also come and compete at crankworx/trialsworx :yum:.

I'm also looking forward to seeing some video footage of the riding and mybe some slopestyle crashes if anybody saw the slopestyle event.:eek3danc:

BrettM

I didn't go to the slopestyle. I'm not too interested and the word was this was one of the worst years. The course's fault from what I hear.

Backflips off of cliffs is out...what a shocker.

Trials is coming back, I can feel it! Just look at the people's faces in the crowd, they love it.

Nice job guys. I am already planning for next year, but probably in expert. I need to take back the title for seatless bikes.;)

edit: ...and what happened to Lutze's "trials" bike?

...and what happened to Lutze's "trials" bike?

I was wondering the same thing.

Also, did anyone catch what disc brake Lenosky was using on the rear? I can't make it out....

darkside
08-03-2007, 12:18 PM
Lenosky was running Code calipers with Juicy levers. He literally took his street/slalom bike and swapped stems and driveside crank arms.

Lutze borrowed a bike for competition. Before anyone starts calling him a hypocrit or any such bullshit, he has never claimed that his other bike was a competition ready trials bike. It is the best bike for him for the riding he does, but for the comp he wanted to borrow something a little more purpose built.

LanceT

"I'm not going to ride one of the new bikes. I like my new bike, I've been trying to find this geometry since I broke my last Schwinn frame...and now I have it. I don't care if I can't sidehop as high as TRA, that's not why I ride!" A.L.

This is like listening to politics. Whatever works at the moment, right?

Anyway, good to see Lutze riding a trials bike and Jeff riding his STP. Jeff has some serious skills and I don't criticise him in the least for riding that setup. Truthfully, that frame has the same geometry he has ridden since the beginning. It just happens to be more of a jump/street bike now, but he can still session the rocks damn well and I think he proved that with the win.

lucky13
08-03-2007, 06:33 PM
Jeff's STP felt super solid and very trialsable, I'm not surprised that he piloted that thing to a podium.

Kinda reminds me of when I agonized about how to build a bike with seat and gears and more trialsy geometry. The perfect all-arounder.
