Finally. Ever since I started riding bikes as a sport I've always wanted to try trials. I currently have a specialized bighit and a p1. I'm pretty sure the p1 won't work as a trials bike and I'm not ready to buy anything yet but what can I expect to get if I spend about $150-200 for a frame or $400-500 for a complete bike? I'm not sure whether or not I want to go stock or mod yet so if this helps at all I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 150lbs. Thanks.

I would forgot the bighit odviously but the P1 should let you learn some basics for a few months until you are sure you want to get serious about trials. you can trackstand, hop, rock, rollup/down, bunnyhop, pedal hop, etc which will keep you busy for quite a while, although more advanced stuff like rearwheel is going to be hard.

THat said you should be able to get a resonable frame for $200 secondhand if you want to transfer your parts from the P bike on to it.

Stock or mob is a personal preference but if you have two 26 inch bikes already then i would say go stock.

I have a p2 cro-mo, and i learned to trackstand, pivot up to 180 deg., rock and do endos on it. The thing weighs 38 fucking pounds but that probably will just make it easier on my mod when it finally gets put together. I think backhopping would be impossible to do, but i havent really tried so i dont know.

edit: I can also do zap taps on 2-3 ft ledges but I fucked up my cranks real bad by smacking my bashgaurd real hard many times while trying to learn.

Put the smallest front chain ring on you can find and a bash gard. You can do a lot on the P1. Start saving for the bike you really want and try to pull it together by the time you can get up on the back wheel.

I'm sure you can with P.1 Not sure if you have disc tabs on those but I had the P.3 when I started trials. Had the Marzocchi Comp MX fork locked at 30mm, ran 22-18 locked into to place and did ok. Was able to do the basic including small sidehops and 2 foot pedal ups. It was solid with dual disc.

I used a P2 for trials for quite some time. By the time I got a trials bike I had all the basics and a few more advanced techniques down. Throw a smaller front chainring on there and make sure your brakes are locking and backwheel hops will be possible.
