Hey, i just took my new bike for a ride and the chain started to skip after about an hour. I'm running an 18t heatsink/bash chainring, a 15t steel king kog on a pro11 ss, and a kmc710SL chain. Everything is brand new and lined up perfect. Is there something wrong with my setup/compatability? Or do i just have to keep riding it hope it beds in? It started as a small skip and it got worse the more i rode. It only happens when i really push hard on the pedals. Any ideas? John.

not enough chain wrap around the rear cog?

Or you just need to break it in maybe? Check the link where you put the chain together, it might be not completely loose as it should be.

There is enough chain wrap. nearly 2/3 of the sprocket. I thought it might need wearing adn Im using the jioning link that came with the chain which is smooth. Ihave used the same chain (model) on my old bike with normal mtb gears (22/17 on 8spd sprockets) So was wondering if its the compatibility or a wearing in process. Or any ideas on a new chain?

My setup is heatsink bash on middleburns with KMC 810 kool chain, 16th king cog and a derrailuer as a tensioner and I have had no problems at all. Why did you go for a 710SL which is a 1/8 chain (wider than necessary) rather than an 810 which is 3/32? Is you chain line perfect? Is the chain new?

710SL is Slightly Lighter

My setup also skips with 74kingz tensioner, but with me it isnt only the tensioner who causes problems.

I'm using a surly screw-on cog @ rear, so when the chain isnt tight enough it will skip. The tensioner cant handle the force with me, it slides in the dropout.

I think I shall try grinding it a lill'bit, hopefully this should to the trick...
