I have searched plenty and read up on pros/cons of both, opinions, etc. With that said just looking to see what percentage of people ride what.

I'd guess 80/20 for stock/mod in the US

In Switzerland less or more 10/90 for stock/mod... Shit place for trials... LOL
Anyway I ride both, but I prefere a lot big 26" wheels. I just ride 20" sometimes in the front of my house, when I'm too tired for a serious ride. ;-)

I rode mod for 7 years and switched to stock just over 1 year ago. I love it. Alot easier for natural.

I just got my first trials bike, I went with a mod because of my bmx background. Stock seemed like it would feel too big.:dunno:

Can any rider who does both mod and stock explain the diffrences in riding between the two, like which is good for bunnyhops, pivots, backhops, or anything else noticeable?

I just started to ride both. I have been riding a stock for 2 years and I got my mod finished a week ago. It is a lot easyer for me to go big on my stock sense I can set my wheel on top of the object. On my mod I have to bunny hop on top of stuff. Hopping on the rear wheel might be a little easyer on a mod, but it is just what you are used to. Both feel good to me.
Right now I like my stock better, mainly because I am more use to it.

A mod is more flickable, but it will lack on naturals. You have to ride a mod explosive in tight quarters where a stock you can flow up things with ease. You also have to take in consideration your riding style.

Does anyone think its better to start with a mod and move into a stock or the other way around?

It depends on the person. I just went with stock cause I rode mt.bike for so long. But now riding other peoples' mods, I'm interested, not that I'll completely switch over but something to mess around with. They sure feel different but some moves are wicked too easy.

I was also amazed with how mod rides... so I finally decided to buy myself an echo team short. Don't know if the reason was that I have always ridden long bikes but I feeled a bit cramped on a mod. I'm quite small for more surprise...;p
You have to be much more explosive as someone said before. But more power you put in jump gives you a lot more cm. It's easier to manipulate on natural (more flickable and easier on rear... you have to be more accurate though). I find stock a lot easier for stuff like taps, ups and all the stuff which is done with speed (i.e. hoooks...).
I decided to stick to stock and sold my mod bike. Mod bikes are more fun, but I find it easier to jump on stock. Dunno why... I guess it's just a habit...
I also would like to add that I didn't give much chance theTeam to make me like him as I sold it after few rides. Main reason... I accept only my control;p
Riding both bikes is stupid... you will be worse.

I had both, but sold the mod cause it was weird always going back and forth between them. I prefer the rolling ability of stock, and I run a susp fork now, so I doubt I could go back to mod.

I started on stocks, first with a converted mountain bike, then a giant martin haywes, then a 2003 echo pure. I loved the pure and would definitely have stuck with stocks had I not got the deal of the century on a mod (I bought Marco Hoesel's xtp the day after he won the 06 world champs on it). Now I absolutely love mods, but I would like to have a stock as well. What I find is that if I spend time off my mod it takes me a while to get used to again, where as the stock always felt nice straight away.
I don't really agree that the stock was better on natural, I find it the other way around except on really crappy ground where the rolling is nice.
