I got the 108 and it doesn't have room for a full cassete it only has room for six gears so i don't think that one is the 108

they have scaled the new hubs down to 72 points which is plenty. if you really feel like you need 108 points of engagement then look into an industry9 hub.

I had a 108 and it blew up after two months. Hadley replaced it. The second one blew up after 3 months. They replaced it. I noticed it didn't make the "zing" sound as pronounced as the previous 2 hubs. I called and asked if there was a design change or if it might be a problem that it didn't make the sound. They told me that since I blew up 2 of the 108s, they replaced it with the 72. I was not pleased since I bought the 108 for the One Hundred Eight points of engagement.

I've had the 72 for about a year. No problems, works great. The 108 was slightly better, but the 72 has taken the same sort of beating as the other two without breaking.

Huh?? :? I am running a 9 speed SRAM cassette on my Hadley 108 point hub and have had ZERO problems. It's on my freeride bike and just keeps begging for more. Hasn't skipped a beat yet. :bigthumb:

i think having a hub that doesnt explode is more of an upgrade than anything. having too much engagement has its disadvantages anyways.

Weird cuz i can fit at most 6 speeds maybe they made the next year have a full cassette but when i bought mine they only had short cassette body. Glad to hear the 72 works good cuz i'd like to stay in hadley or maybe go hope for my next hub. Also i think 108 is really not even needed.

i find it to be a load of BS that you can really feel the difference between 108 and 72 points after a week of being on one vs the other.

Kevin... I have a King and a 108 that Mike Hadley built for me years ago when I called asking about their hubs. Getting off one bike and getting on another with the different hubs you know it for sure. After riding on one or the other for a while you just stop paying attention though.. The gap in the ratchet is definitely noticeable in a King vs. the Hadley where it's all but non-existant. That said.. I actually like the slight give the King has before it engages.. that eeeentsy bit if torque bang is just satisfying. Still love that 108 though.. badass hub, never had a single problem with it and it's one of the originals.

Hey, you know what they say... See a broad, to get that booty yak 'em. Leg 'er down 'n smack 'em yak 'em. Cold got to be, you know?

72, 48, 108, infinite... it's all the same. it doesnt help you ride better is what im getting at. sure you feel it for 5 minutes after switching from one to the other but after a ride or two, you wouldnt know so saying you NEED a hub with the fastest engagement is like saying you can only wipe your ass with a certain brand of toilet paper.

This is true. I've ridden 108 and 72 point hubs/freewheels. They felt the same to me. As long as you have a reliable nice engaging hub, all is good. Just as long as you dont have a 2 point ACS ;)

Even though for the first 6 years of my trials career this is all that was available and nobody knew any better.

the 108.9 tryall made my acs feel gay for about 10 seconds. after that it was fine and i didn't give a crap and rode my bike. anything over 32 is fine, just slightly nicer i guess.

dude.. sorry but comparing a try-all freewheel and an ACS claw is like comparing double ply toilet paper vs newspaper in your ass.

oh i know, you missed the important part:

after that it was fine and i didn't give a crap and rode my bike

i guess my point was that the different between 108 and 72 is fickle really, when i know i ride just as well with a shitty ACS. vince seemed to ride pretty well on his too :luke:, i would have been pleased that hadley switched me to the stronger 72pt hub.

or something.

no one notices the fact that your pedal ratchets back a lot when you ride natural if you have super high engagement? or do you kids just not ride natural
