I'm trying to develop a smoother more consistant style of riding, I'm just wondering how much power I'll have to sacrifice to be smoother.
Right now my sidehops are over 3 feet, and taps are about 41 inches, level gaps are just bout 6'6".
Also what can i do to help make me smoother, I know i need more muscular endurance, but should i practice really technical lines, or broad basic lines, just give me as much info as possible.
Oh and i've also stopped wearing a helmet, gloves, shin pads, and knee pads (It's been helping so far).
You sound like a really sensible guy that knows whats up. :ugh:
To be smoother, you have to work at.... being....smoother? :dunno:

Sorry you can't be smooth and sidehop more than 2 feet 11 inches, tap more than 36.723" or gap more than your physical height.
You must also stop wearing shoes.
But if you put your damn helmet back on, you can be smooth and not have any limits to how big you go. Just practice and tell yourself to stop riding so sketchy. Smoothness takes a little concentration at first, but comes with practice.
sacrifice 31.7% power and you should be spot on!
Yeah lose the helmet... it'll help you get to where you want to/should be faster.
Ive heard its more like 32%, but you could be almost right.
Oh wait, thats with gloves!

What is your current riding style like Zaback? There is more than one way to be sketchy:)

Lighten your bike up. Then you have to ride smooth or it becomes too expensive!

You want to be smoother? Try shaving your head....... or your balls, whichever.

being smooth is in your head. just visualise it and don't think too much about it.. it takes time to develop.
just try moving as little as possible. absorbing the bike with your hips and knees
(no, not like that.. you sick minded people)

Rofl, very nice
Ya i kinda worded the thread bad, But ya removing the helmet is a bad idea, but i'm gonna keep knee pads off til like october cuz it's like 30'C, and they make me too sweaty.
Ya my riding is really sketchy right now, I'll try to just ride smoother if that's all there is to it.

undo everything you already did and just use your brakes less.

Watch felix's and marco's videos and then do it like they do. Or buy really weak parts, then you have to be smooth.

For me, learning to be smooth meant working on my endurance, having streath and stamina on my bike lets me concentrate on moves.
Kevin (netto) had some good points about throwing your body more then kicking or using your muscles which is not 'needed'. Watch his videos and you'll know what I'm talking about. The kid just flies. And yes I'm trying to be more smooth...
But don't know about riding without a helmet.

Okay Zaback now that I've watched one of your videos I have so ideas. It seems to me that your biggest hang up is that you use too many setup hops. You often don't actually need them and they will just tire you out. Be confident and be quick. The longer you stall the more time you have to lose you balance.
Other than that increased stamina and skill will make everything look smoother. So practice as usual.

i´m trying to be more smooth too...
but i´m a chicken on trials...i can´t tap higher than 90 cms, sidehops more than 80cms and gap longer than 2,6 mts...i think it´s my age...i´m very afraid recently, i´m thinking in bails all the time, i think my chain snapping when droping/gaping, my fw skip in a wrong moment...weird.

dont need to go big to have fun. when you do a line smooth and clean it feels a lot better than hitting a huge gap.
