Hey guys,

I plan to use my old monty forks on my new frame and I'm wondering if the steer tube will be long enough. They are the forks off the old monty 231 from 03. :luke:

The thing is the steer tube has been cut diagonally so I guess i'll have to cut it myself?

Its 165mm long at the shortest length.

So do you guys think it would be long enough for:
Adamant A1
Echo headset
Echo stem

Thanks for any help

:h5:

No, it will definitely not be long enough for your setup.

I use a fork with a 165mm steerer. My headtube measures 105mm. My headset is very low with 24.6mm. I don't use any spacers and have just 35mm left for the stem to clamp. And even that is not really enough - I have to readjust the headset every few weeks.

I have no idea about the A1 headtube lenght but I think it won't be shorter than 110mm. So you're already fucked up. And I don't think that the headset is very low - you're fucked up again. Eventually you'll be totally busted because of the stem. Echo stems have a very long steerer clamp height. You'll need a least 45mm of steerer tube to get the stem to clamp securely.

Thanks for the reply fabi, much apreciated.

Does anyone know the height of an echo headset?

The headtube length on an a1 is 100 mm :h5:
