I'm running a 16 tooth ZHI and i'm getting a pretty consistent one tooth slip after a 1/4 to 1/2 turn with some pressure.
Anyone had this issue before? or what cog are you running with no problems?

Are both the cog and chain new? If it's a new cog and old chain, get a new chain.
What hub and front chainring are you using?
Have you checked your chainline?
Edit: Nevermind. I just saw your other thread.
I use a KMC 810 and a Chris King 15t steel cog in the back and it doesn't skip.

I have KMC 810 and King 18t steel cog in the rear.
The only time I ever had a chain skip on a cog/chainring was on my MTB when the front chainrings were really old and worn.

I've run a king steel cog, a king aluminum cog , a surly steel cog and an old shimano steel cog all with the same kmc chain.
Surly 16t with a KMC 810. No issues.

I used mine with an endless cog (16t), two surly cogs (15t), and one king (19t back in the day). The only combo I ever had a problem with was a brand-spankin new chain on a worn-out surly cog. Skipped rrreeeaaallllyyy bad. Any time I did more than a half-pedal, it'd jump a full tooth.

18t steel king, 20t tryall, 15t steel shimano, 16t steel bt, all worked well with kmc.
Edit: Except for 11t shimano, kmc was too fat.
Tried Shimano DX (too narrow eats in to cassette body), King Alluminium and Steel (both work great) and Surly all in 18th with KMC K810. Surly had really bad problems with skipping. Totally unridable, so bad that you couldn't even pedal the bike around let alone do trials. Surly States that their cogs are not designed to be used with a tensioner, so I wouldn't get one again.

got an echo cog on it last night after much anger and frustration and hammers and chizzles and torches and bigass pipewrenches removing the zhi...seems to be working well so far.
Thanks for the help

i have an echo cog on the rear which skips if i don't have shitloads of chain wrap. that's probably what your problem is. i went from a (pushing down) tensioner to a derailer and now it is working.

old KMC 810 chain + new surly 18T casette cog = works like a charm
new KMC 710 chain + new surly 18T casette cog = broken face
apparently, surly cogs only work well with 3/32" chains and not with often cheaper 1/8" chains.
