DISCLAIMER
I dont take credit for any of the ideas since the came from here http://www.trials-online.com/trials-faq-included.php#q3_4
I am just rewriting it into simpler format and adding my experience and videos to make it easier to understand.

So lets start.
What u need to know before starting to try to back hop.
trackstanding.
hopping with two wheels.
have an OK balnce.

1.SO the first thing you want to do is to overcome your fear of going to far back, the easiest way to do it is just
To stop, balance and then pull back on the bars if needed give it a pedal kick untill u will go over the back wheel, like in the video below. Its
like this. (yes i messed cuz i was sleepy and tired)

2. now we can actually get to back hopping part. There a lot of ways to learn it, the easiest way to get started I think is by putting ur front wheel on a curb or something like that no more then a 12 inches of the ground. Once u do that pull back on the bars and once u get to the balance point ( it’s a point where it feels like u don’t weigh anything ) once u get to the balance point u will want to have ur elbows bent 90 degrees and have ur knees bent around 45 degrees or so depends on you, after that pull up ur bike with ur hands and feet while keeping the bike in the same position. At first u will be barely able to hop 1 time but after a while u will start to hop several times.

3.Once you can do 2-3 backhops shown the way above you will want to start doing it with out any help of an object. stop and eather from a trackstand or rocking pull back untill balnce point and then start hoping the same way as in step 2

Advises by other people

2Wheel Deal
i would like to say that another easy way to get on your back wheel is to use rocking to keep your balance and then use that momentum and a slight pedal kick to help get the front wheel off the ground. also, a good starting point for body position once on the rear is to have your elbows bent about 90 degrees with the bars close to the middle of your chest. obviously this will change depending on the rider but it is a good starting point.

things to remeber.
1 you can skip step two but it might be harder to learn how to back hop i just find it easier with step 2.
2 i advise you to read this

3 dont be scared to lean far back. you will not fall. and wil bail safly.
4 I DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILTY WHAT YOU DO TO YOUR SELF YOUR BIKE OR ANYONES ELSE PROPERTY
