I'm starting to think about what new frame I'm going to buy. I'll need to upgrade my whole drivetrain aswell.
What do you guys think about these, any I should stay away from?
Adamant A1 116mm hub spacing, short.
Tensile crank with an ACS freewheel and bash attached
Zhi ISIS BB
Echo fixed rear single speed hub 116mm
Echo rear rim
15t Zhi Cog so I can run a 18/15 ratio
KMC cool chain
Is there any disadvantage going with 116mm hub spacing/horizontal dropouts?
Anyone had any experience with the Adamant A1 frame?
I was going to go with a short frame because I like street riding, bunny hopping etc.

don't get an acs, better spend a few $ more and get a tensile or a monty or a tryall or a white industries.
otherwise should be all good.

Thanks for the reply
I'll save up for a new freewheel/crankset later but I'm almost definatly going to get the ACS because its second hand and comes with tensile cranks and a bashring for 100 bucks. I don't have much money so I'm minimizing cost :)

i never had that big of a problem with an ACS, you can use it for now till you upgrade, but it might be hard to get it off of your crank

Yeah I'll probably get a new crank when I get a new freewheel.
I'm still a beginner so I wont be putting too much stress on the freewheel anyway.

I'd switch and get an echo bb and a zhi rim

echo rim is stronger, no need to change it to zhi...
also no need in buying zhi cog. Echo makes their fixed hubs0 with spindle-design (NOT shimano hg standard) in their own standard. You should get 15T cog with your buy.

Thanks for the replys so far
No one has any comments on how the adamant A1 rides, or the horizontal dropouts?

yeh, dont get horizontal dropouts.........or will be living a painful life of chain tension issues.....
and why 116mm spacing while your at it? if you get standard vertical dropouts with 135mm spacing you have the whole mountain bike hub market at your disposal............not gay trials parts.

Whats so painful about horizontal dropout tension? I thought it was easier :ugh:
The adamant only comes with horizontal dps in 116mm spacing =\
The reason I want Horizontal dropouts is so I don't have to run a tensioner

The Adamant comes in 116mm or 135mm spacing...
Also a chain tensioner is alot easier than fidling with snail cams

Nah I mean horizontal dropouts are 116mm and verticle dropouts are 135mm.
I don't know if I should get horizontal dropouts now :ugh:

Echo have a new fixed rear 135mm coming out soon with an inbuilt chain tensioner... I haven't seen it yet, but you shouldn't have to worry about bending derailleurs/hangers etc.
horizontal dropouts are the best as long as you use the right tensioners for it , if the "snail cams" are smooth , then make some dints in it with the grinder so it "pops" into place and stays there.

I was reccomending a better freewheel than an acs just bwecause all the other parts were quite good. I've used an acs for over a year myself now without any problems at all, so it should be ok.

So the only disadvantages to hdo's is really limited hub choice? Because you'd be fiddeling with tension using a tensioner too if your hanger breaks etc.
But you don't need to worry about that with hdo's.
Anyone have some pics of snail cams, as I don't really understand how they tension your chain yet.

What stem should I get for this frame? ( 1075 wb )

I have a Zhi BB and it seems to have a lot of friction. It isn't a big deal and it might just be mine...

Thanks, but it's changed to an echo BB

the hubaxle goes through the biggest hole in the snailcam, then you just start turning the cams(as you see the outer radius changes from quite small to quite big) thus moving the rear wheel back(there are two special bolts on the inside of the frame that snailcams use)

Thanks Juhan, do you have any pics of bikes with snail cams on them?
If I do end up getting any problems with snail cams etc then I'll just try out a threshold tensioner?

There is no dissernable difference in strength between ZHI or Echo rims.... beyond marketing.

Could I possibly run no tensioner at all with an 18t freewheel on the front and a 15t on the back if I was using a shadow conspiracy chain?
Also does anyone know how to calculate if you won't need to run any tensioner depending on the size of the cogs your using and the chainstay length. I swear I've read a thread on it here before. I've tried searching but I couldn't find anything.
Thanks for all the help so far guys
