is there a difference in feel btw Dot 4 and 5.1?

I topped mine up with some 4 (not supposed to mix, i know) without looking at the bottle. Now it feels like after a while, its out of fluid.. so i just wind in the reach screw until it feels good again.

Thinking I should re-bleed the whole thing to make it they way its supposed to be. I know Dot 4 is more corrosive/Dot 5 absorbs water, but can you notice it difference its in the system?

thank you

hey mitch

the hope manual reccommends 5.1 but says you can use 4 in a pinch...

ive used both longterm (not mixed though) and never felt any different....

when they mix they eat your brake lines and your doritos.

5.1 is the same as 4 except that it has a higher boiling point. 5.1 and 4 are miscible.
5 is different (silicone based) and will eat your family if you try to use it.

i might rebleed it completely with DOT 4 today

yeh hope manual says specifically that you can use both but NOT mixed.

if they are "miscible", then does anyone know why you can't mix?

Completely flush the system of the old if you are switching DOT.
