i just looked at my ups tracking i might not have a bike by the 26th hahaha. it shows my package has been sitting in HODGKINS, IL, US for the past 108 hours :ugh: . it shows it has moved a total of 28.48 miles in the opposite direction i live since it was shipped 140 hours ago. getting on the phone with ups right now. fuckheads.

beastoftheeast
05-22-2007, 03:09 PM
hoo fucking ray, ups doesn't know where the fuck my package is. if it doesnt arrive today like its supposed to they start the search tomorrow. (possibly damaged bar code, so the tracking scans didnt work.)

the tracking was just messed up but got the frame except midwestbike trials sent me the wrong frame :hahano:. whatever im keeping it. i got a gu mod instead of an adament. 5 mm shorter, i dont like the way the connection from the top tube to bottom tube is but whatever, im not going to break it.

A brand new steerer? no way you can remove some spacers underneath to get it rolling?

beastoftheeast
05-24-2007, 01:41 AM
how the hell would you put a new steer tube on? remove what spacers? this thing needs to go back to the shop, someone cut it and its fucked, i think. it might be the right length if i didnt have a headset in :wuteva:. its way short though, an inchish. also how high up should the star nut thing be in the fork? it came in and its pretty deep. still wouldnt work though. over 1/2 my stem would be clamped to nothing? want pics?

MIKE1968
05-24-2007, 01:44 AM
yes

you can get away with 1/2 clamp....sometimes :o

beastoftheeast
05-24-2007, 02:09 AM
im not even sure if i have that much though, ill take a look again. the star nut, whatever it is that goes in the steer tube will have to be at the very top and its not, easy fix though.

MIKE1968
05-24-2007, 02:21 AM
wtf did they cut it to 6"?

beastoftheeast
05-24-2007, 03:06 AM
a lil under 7? my broken black fork is 8 and 1/4? am i retarded and doing something wrong?

MIKE1968
05-24-2007, 03:19 AM
nah...most trials shit i had was round 7.5 to be safe.

beastoftheeast
05-24-2007, 03:59 AM
your saying that length should work? id have to get a much longer screw for the cap... and under half the stem is clamped to nothing? someone did some quality work cutting it down, with both the length, and the cut quality, chainsaw?

beastoftheeast
05-24-2007, 04:14 AM
or midwest bike trials give me new fork :ugh: ? shouldnt have to deal with this. what stem/headset combo would be more low profile? would that really be enough? the cap screw has a long way before it can reach...

get a refund if they precut it without you telling them..

Maybe they cut it for the Adamant and the difference between the two frames head tube's is that much? Whatever the cause, that is ridiculously short.

Sorry to hear your order was so fucked up.

3rd Degree

That is wicked short. You shouldnt have to pay for the shipping to get the fork back, so see if they can overnight you one. sending those pics to them might help too.

Keith Courage

I agree with everything.

I want to cuddle your bike, like you cuddle your new hot Gf that you bang 8 times a day.

ya but i ordered the fork long before i order my frame because i was going to use my friends old echo team but i found a crack it... they didnt even know what frame i was going to put it on, and it shouldnt matter anyways.

edit: been calling them the last hour, during when they say they pick up the phone, no luck. left them a message and sent them pic's, we'll see what happens :noes:

If you cant get ahold of them and you want to get up and riding, I have a extra PX Kniffen fork that is just sitting in a box and your more than welcome to use it until your new fork comes.

It may not work, I got it from TTown about a year ago and it was cut short, but it was cut long enough to where I couldnt use any spacers, but enough steerer' to work without any sketchyness.

Oh, I assumed you had ordered frame and fork together. That's even worse then - they sent you a fork that was cut for no apparent reason?!?!! I'm interested to hear their explanation.

Hopefully they get back to you quickly. This is one reason I have been so faithful to Web Cyclery - even if they may not have everything in stock all the time, if there's any problem (which is rare) they are on it ASAP and their communication is excellent.

beastoftheeast
05-25-2007, 01:27 PM
cut down? :greddy2: haha alright on peral or the hill? ill probably stop by sometime probably. ill need you to slam the race crown on the fork for sure. i got it 95% with a pcv pipe before it cracked on the fork with a short steer before i knew it was short so i took it to university bikes cause its closest to finish the job... 3$
