When I first saw the BT 7.0, I didn't like it at all... like almost every other BT frame out there... but this one here looks really nice, with all these pimp parts on it!

That's a good looking bike. I hope it rides as nice. the scale is fucking with me though...looks as if it has 24" wheels even though I can plainly see that it doesn't. Are those 3" dia main tubes in the frame or something?

Wow...max bling factor there.

That's a pretty nicely set up bike, all except for rims & pedals that is :)

Thanks for posting pics Nathan..... I'm totally stoked with this bike..... Only had one ride, but it feels better than any bike I have ever ridden - super stiff and seems to always do exactly what you want it to, real predictable a stable - LOVE IT :D

I wanna say a huge thanks to Rav. When I was looking at this bike I sent him a huge list of questions and concerns I had about it.... I honestly didn't expect a reply, but Rav got back to me next day with answers to everything, and even some to questions I hadn't thought to ask.... Thanks a lot Rav, you're the kinda guy we need running trials companies.....

Also thanks to Mick at Embrace Gravity here in Australia for getting the frame in for me real quickly.... See you at some comps I hope Mick.

Basic Spec is Avid Ultimate levers to Avid Code (rear) and Juicy Carbon (front) calipers. Hope Pro 2 - Mavic 729 rear wheel, Mavic CrossMax XL front with bolt on skewer.... The rest is pretty easy to see.... The only parts I carried over from the old bike were cranks, pedals and bb.....

:D

Hows that rear disk?

Nice build btw!

Whats geo?
How does chainstay length and all of that chain tensioning work with the horizontal dropouts? Do you ever have to adjust disc or anything like that? What gearing are you using and how does that affect it?

Macbeth
05-17-2007, 01:56 AM
1075 with this fork.... 380 stays at first, but I have tugged it out maybe 2mm as the chain stretched....

Adjusting chain tension is the easiest thing ever, seriously a 30 second job. I have to keep good tension on it as the chain on JUST clears the stays cause I am running 16-13 ratio.

The disc was hell easy to set up and has required no adjustment yet.... VERY solid lever feel....

That's a really nice bike, one of the nicest bt's I've seen. Good to hear that the Avid Code(which is a freeride brake actually??!) works great as a trials rear brake.

And about the bt 7.0's looking ugly - that's bullshit. They might not look the bling as a frame only, but with parts on it it really looks awesome(and that goes to all bt 7.0's)

Thanks

Thanks for both replies. I really wold like to keep my CK. Hopefully I can figure something out. I am stoked to get this frame.

No worries mate..... You think you're excited now, just wait til you ride it..... I rode a comp on mine on sunday, after having had it built up for only 3 days..... Best I have ever riffen in a comp, and I have been waking up dying to ride every morning......

The brakes are almost totally bedded in now..... WAY more power than any brake I have ever used, and the modulation is amazing, very predictable. First time I have finished a comp without sore hands too..... Lovin' it :D

I remember rav told me that if people wanted to use ck hubs there was no problem. They just drill it bigger or whatever, I dont remember...........

Rav adn Disappearin sent me pics on how to make CK fun bolts work with the BT. It looks like all you have to do is drill the replaceable tensioner out. And in the future you can just replace them back to stock if need be. Thats my impression

Looks like you've got goodridge housing too:) So how do you like that avid code rear disc compared to what you've ridden before? Is this your first dual disc? Are you likin it?

edit: damn I just saw the post saying you liked it! Well, that's good news! Great looking ride. The code brake looks fantastic. Perhaps that's what I should ride on the rear of my bike to come.

goose
05-26-2007, 09:52 AM
Hey Macbeth, I've been looking into the goodridge hoses for codes, and I haven't found any info leading me to believe they sell a 'kit' for code disc brakes. How did you arrange to get braided housing hooked up to the codes???

Also, have you noticed much pad wobble in the code rear?

Thanks!

Goose also think about the hope trials brake if you got the money, at shawi we tried Hugo's new BT 7.0 and it was completly silent and the breaks had tons of power and seemed to work great even though they weren't worked in yet. I want one.

Are you sure that ain't just the chain hitting the Seatstay or Chain stay? :dunno:

Oh ya, i'm considering all brakes, but I would prefer not to buy a trials specific one, because it's not going on a trials specific bike. Marta, Hope Trials, Avid Code, BB7 are all considerations. Hopefully we can get a review of the code rear from MacBeth in a bit when he's ridden on it more.

That's a good point, he mentioned that the chain just cleared with his 16-13 gearing. Maybe it's not pad wobble!
