I'm thinking about getting a new bike, the one that I'm thinking about has a v-brake in the back. I'm just wondering if this will support me or not, I weigh about 150 or so. Please let me know.

Ok so you don't think that I should go with disk at all? Or should I even consider it?

There are a number of people that run Vs and they seem to love them. It is really important that you get decent pads.
The few trials rigs I have ridden with Vs have worked really well, and feel stiffer than maggies, but not enough to make me think about switching.

what do people thin about the Magura hydro rim brakes? do you think they would work for me on the front hub?

Next time.... actually TRY the search function. You are asking VERY common questions that have been gone over many times. The "Hydro Rim brake" known as the HS-33 is widely used in trials. Does your bike even support it? I really don't think it's any better than a nice V-brake setup. If you are running V's I highly doubt you have a trials frame that will be strong enough for a disk setup......Use the search feature. You will find endless knowledge on these topics.

Magura HS-33:

That is what most people on the forum use, at least for the rear wheel. commonly referred to as maggies or HS-33s. As to whether or not they will work for you, I'm not sure. You have to have special magura brake mounts. Well, you dont have to.. They make what's called evolution adapters, which let you run HS-33s even if you have "normal" V mounts. I think they are crap, but I have never actually run them, so maybe someone with experience with them can chime in.
I'm not sure what you mean by them working with your front hub, because HS-33s do not interact with your hub at all. If you were thinking of a disc brake rather than a rim brake, you have to have a special fork and hub.
example of a fork with disc mounts:

that mount at the bottom of the fork is what holds the disc caliper in place.
example of disc hub:

the extra part on the left is what holds the rotor.
As for which brake pads to get, I am not sure which are best because I don't run Vs. Any pads you get that are made for trials can't be bad, so check out stores like:

a good v-brake setup will always be far better than using the evolution adapter on HS-33's. I used to run the evolution adapter and it is a piece of crap. HS-33's on the correct mount however is a completely different story (still debatable if it is better than vee's or not but we won't get into that :nono:)

Just from looking at the evo adapters when I got my new HS-33s, I thought that they looked like crap. I'm sure they work fine for "normal" riding, but for trials I would never use them. Not to mention those "boosters" that come with them. Might as well make those out of wonder bread.
