Hey....Who's going to Raccoon Rally / Thunder Rocks in June?
I'm coming up from C-town.
Also...and more important...I just put in my booking for campsites for Raccoon Rally and was told by the park guys that the sites for that weekend are filling up fast. If you wanna camp at Quaker or Redhouse, you should probably book within the next few days.
Phone number for booking is:
New York State Campgrounds

Customer Service 1-800-777-9644

Just a heads up - I know a lot of guys stayed at the Holiday Inn Express (real close to the comp) before in Salamanca NY, but I just checked and they are totally booked. Looks like I will be staying at the Best Western in Bradford PA again.
And BTW...who ever told me that Bradfod was a "sketchy town" the last time I stayed there... was not joking! Some strange characters walkin' those streets!

Yeah, you cant buy beer at the grocery stores there :hsugh: . So they told me to walk across the street to this bar that was in this back room of a sleezy motel/thing...the bar looked like somthing out of the movie Roadhouse...I told the scketch ass bar tender I needed a 12pack of bud-lght. So she grabs some empty six pack containers and fills two of em up with bottles right from here cooler behind the bar... then put em in a crusty as brown bag and I walked out of there like I was fuckin Pablo Escobar.......none the less thats where I'll be kickin it pool side again this year :ugh2: .

Yes....it is very very hard to get beer in PA on the weekends. Pick it up in new york or elsewhere.

Did you call or try to book online? I tried online and it said it was booked, so I called and they had rooms available...

Hey all,
Had a few requests for info for the Raccoon Rally.... just posted some on NATS website (www.natrials.com (http://www.natrials.com)). Look on upper left under LATEST NEWS and you'll see link to click.
This, I believe, is now the oldest continuous running trials event in North America. With the rocks that are there..... no wonder!!
Hope to see you all there!

Depending on how much free time we have... there is a really cool place to ride in that town over by the skate park. (Skate park was kinda fun too.) Looks like I will be driving up there solo this year.

This really sucks, but there is a chance that I may not be able to make this one. (Money issue) Maybe if I sleep in my tent or my car i could swing it... I'm gonna do my best to be there though.

I just noticed that there is a bunny hop contest. Saturday at 4:00 at the event midway. Did they have a bunny hop contest last year?

Hey John - I don't think they had a bunny hop contest... if they did I didnt hear anything about it. Doin' sport or beginner old man? lol

Jay, I know it wasn't directed at me, but be careful tossing out the words 'old man' I know at least 5 approaching 40, and we old men get grumpy when we hear 'old man'

I'll have to see how the sport sections are, then decide. I don't remember them from last year. I would hope I've improved over the last year to where I could do sport class! It will definitely be a good challenge.
So far the weather forecast looks great. I went riding yesterday for about 2 hours. It was near 95F. Forecast for Salamanca says sunny and 71F for Saturday!

I'm 42, so to most of the trials community, I am an old man!

Heh heh Yeah... I wouldnt say it unless I was up there in age as well. I just turned 37... getting old sucks! lol
BTW... can anyone give me directions from Bradford PA to the comp? last year I got lost. I know it is 219 N to 86 N/ 17 or something like that.. just unsure of the exits and stuff. Thanks guys!

How about "old guy class" In any given class, everyone over say...35 years old puts in $5, winner take all. No stock or mod designation. So, if we have 5 riders over 35 years old in sport class, winner gets his 5 back plus $20. For 5 bucks it may make things a little more interesting. We can work on the age requirement depending on how many riders.

It looks like.....take "Interstate Parkway" north out of bradford. at the PA/NY line, "Interstate Parkway" becomes "Alleghaney State Park Road 3". Take a Right on Alleghaney State Park Road 2....then veer right onto "Thunder Rocks Ridge Road.
I would stop at the guardhouse at the park entrance and get a map of the park...the venue is called "Thunder Rocks"
