If you get to some bars early while they are still serving dinner they often won't be carding yet.

Not true, you can find a lot of cheap hotels in Cambridge,Dorchester, the YMCA in Boston,Chandler Inn in Boston, just to name a few. There is a hotel down the road from me in Cambridge, which goes for $89 a night and has continental bfast.

Boston is a kick ass place to chill in the summer, it's the biggest college town in the world. The cool thing about staying close to the city, is you can ride your bike into town from your hotel.Woman are out, the bars close at 2am and there are a lot of woman out..lol.PM me and I can help you find a place to stay, I have a few friends who can get me kick ass deals on some hotels in Boston. Also, it's only about a 45-60 min drive to Rockport.I can fit about 5-6 people in my car and my buddy is going as well in his Suburban.
During the time of the event, is when Boston is going to be swarming with people.

Saturday is the only day thats set in stone for Rockport hopefully the weather cooperates. as far as everything else... I'm leaving it up to all you peeps on what you want to do.. Obviously we need to ride Boston/check out the city etc. ... depending on everyones schedule and what they want to do we can all have a vote on what works for everyone.
As far as a comp goes... It's in everyones hands.. I would rather get everyones opinion and get the majority instead of saying...yes.. UCI rules beginer, sport, expert, pro = "yawn". I'm thinking something different that hasnt been done yet so we can laugh and talk shit as opposed to people getting pissed for fiving and just general run of the mill Trials.

Would anyone going to the OTN days be willing to do a skills clinic sometime during the weekend? Help out some beginner/intermediate riders!?
I could use some tips and I'm sure some other riders would appreciate some info to improve their riding. I seem to be doing so much riding by myself, and not progressing.........

John – a skills clinic! Great idea. I don’t have time to ride often and I usually ride alone too. Talk about slow progression – I’m still dialing in my rear wheel balance and it’s only been 2+ years! :rant2: :momaru:
When I do a group ride the people I’m with are waaaay more advanced, very supportive, and willing to help when I ask. But I usually feel uncomfortable asking (too much) since they are there to enjoy their ride too, not instruct me.
Anyway – I’d like to attend a skills clinic too. :coold:
Just ask...it's the only way to learn! I've learned a lot from guys that are considered pro as well as beginners. People learn by teaching too :)

Any idea of hotels in the boston area??? Found one for 70 bucks a night in Wakefeild, is that just way out of the way?

Here you go..
Check these places out:
You want to look for hotels in these towns: Arlington,Cambridge,Roxbury,Brookline,Somerville,D orchester,Charlestown,Jamaica Plains. Finding one in those towns would work out the best for you, Roxbury would be the best town. Most likely the most expensive, it's right in the city. You can try the YMCA in Boston and an inn, called the Chandler Inn, that's right in the city to.There is a also a hotel in Arlington and it's close to the train for $89 a night.
Stay away from Wakefield, that's way out of the city.Try to look for places in those towns and you should be all set. From all those towns you can bike into the city and you'd be able to have easy access to the train. From living in Boston for the past 13 yrs and ridinig a trials bike for a large part of that. You don't want to be any farther away from the main city, than those towns mentioned.
G-luck,

Via bike is very easy, with a car, it can be very difficult. There are a lot of one way roads and it can be a pain in the ass to get around. For the couple days that your going to be here, you'll be fine.

Keep in mind though that Roxbury, Dorchester, Charlestown, and Jamaica Plain are all actually Boston.
So if you look at an address it may say Boston and be in one of those sections of Boston.
Especially if the Hotel is located in Dorchester ("Dawt") or Roxbury. Because a hotel doesn't want to advertise the fact that it's in one of those two sections, since they are associated with high crime. But there are, in fact very nice areas of Dorchester and Roxbury, it just has a bad connotation.
The different sections of Boston are (in no particular order):
Charlestown
East Boston
Boston Proper
South Boston
Dorchester
Brighton
Roxbury
Jamaica Plain
Hyde Park
West Roxbury
Those section are further broken up into neighborhoods
Brighton: (oak Square, Allston)
East Boston: (Maverick Square, Orient Heights, Eagle Hill, Wood Island)
Boston Proper: (Fenway, Beacon Hill, Back Bay, The North End, South End, China Town Etc.)
Etc
Boston grew by annexation, which is why there is so much confusion.

His way is more organized than mine, if you can get your hotel anywhere in Roxbury..I'd go for Roxbury.Roxbury is considered Boston, so 02115 is the zip you want for that.

O.K. homies.. so I just came back from Halibut point and spoke with the genaral manager there and wanted to relay some info.
Halibut point is a "No Bicycles" state park however where we ride is on town property so no big issue there .. the only issue is that we access the rocks via a park trail. The manager has no problem with us useing the trail for access and the parking lot for parking, I gave him some guidlines on what we would do so it would be "low impact" on the park since it's a major time for tourist and park goers.
1.All bikes need to be walked down the trail head to the rocks (see attached map). I suggested this because anyone who has been down the trail knows how bad the run off is and keeping in mind that we will be low impact it's best for park/trail wear and tear.
2.Theres no riding allowed in the parking lot by anyone at anytime. again this is prime time tourist season and there's alot of people that are stockholders and are members of the trustees of reservations that frequent the park and we dont want to piss any off them off so we can keep this prime spot open for Trials.
3. Try and keep time spent in the parking lot to a minimum. pre rig and get down to the Rocks as soon as possible.(out of sight - out of mind)
4. there's a $2.00 fee for parking per car... no biggie
5. I told the manager that as a "kinder more gentle" Bicycle community that we would be willing to make a charitable donation to the park. I figured $5 or $10 per person would be good ($10 if your a baller) this way we can make this a yearly event and maybe open the park up for all trials geeks in the future. If time allows and you want to walk around the park these guys do a fantastic job with upkeep and bust their ass.
6. I'm thinking we can all meet at the parking lot at 11:00am sharp (or sooner?)
