:eek3:
So I just "finished" the build on my first trials bike (adamant a1). It feels really weird. Is it because of the high BB? is it setup wrong? I was just riding it around the parking lot, and it was way less stable than my XC bike. I had a hard time even riding up a curb with it. Does anything look wrong?
I know it needs a chain tensioner, and the rear brakes need a little work, but that shouldnt affect how it rides.

holy bash guard... might want to get a little smaller oen.. but thats not going to affect the ride initially.
Trials bikes definately feel weird the first time on.. especially the higher bottom bracket, length, lowness.. its all going to feel weird for a whiel.
edit: I'd probably put a little higher/longer stem on that to make up for the high bottom bracket. That would help some, but a trials bike is still goign to feel weird at first.

alright, just wanted to make sure it wasnt supposed to feel like my xc bike without a seat.
Would a higher stem help though?
Edit: BTW, yeah, im gonna make a new bash out of alum.

Definitely change the stem for a long/hi-rise stem. That geo isn't meant for a short flatty like you have.

Great, good to know.
How long do you think I should go?...120? 145? how much rise? 10* 15*?
Thanks guys!

Yeah, my first few rides on my trials bike felt super weird, like I was riding a completely new beast or something. Just riding it around felt difficult, much less trackstanding or hopping around. You'll get used to it soon.
It will definitely feel weird at first. Just ride it around alot. Dont just ride it in a carpark, ride it for a couple of miles around the town trying stuff. Youll get used to it soon enough.

Wow wish I had the money to build a stock, looks great if you ask me, only things I see are no chain tensioner(which you said your working on) and its such a pretty frame I would hate to see it get all torn up cause of chain rub, might try some electrical tape, I think Try-all makes a pad you can put on your frame to stop chain rup. And for the feel, the first several times I rode mine it was incredibly weird feeling. So just stick with it you will get used to it.

I built it on a budget of $550, and ive got about $20 left to spend.(hopefully I can find a new (used) stem for that...)

well, for starts until you find a higher stem... put the spacers under the stem. That will help a little
Deffinately get a new stem it will make a huge difference. that frame looks like it has around 50mm BB rise and that stem would be short on an old school bike. other than that and the lack of a tensioner, get out a ride.

so, the consensus is that a 130-135mm stem with 20-25* of rise?

1st thing I noticed.
Nice build, Enjoy that mofo. Soon you will become as one. And get rid of that sticker with the American flag.

I ride the 1095 Adamant A1, with the BB being +55mm I needed to replace my stem as well. I'm 6' and like you it didn't feel right for me either and swapped out 130x15 that came on it. I use Echo bulge bars so I went with a Echo HifI 145x25 to make up for the BB height geo? Like eturt9 stated because you have a riser bar for now place spacers under stem and try it out. 135x25 should work fine with a riser bar you have but I'm not you and don't know your height etc..
