Hi all :Wavey:

My rear tire is Try-All Stiky and I am sick of bying new inner tubes because of the weak sidewalls :( I don't know if the sidewalls are the only problem, but if i is then i would like to buy a new rear tire. Can you recomend me some models that are good and strong. Thanks!

Sorry for my english but I am from Bulgaria

If your riding mod then I'd go Maxxis Creepy Crawler. If your riding stock then I would recomend teh Schwalbe Big Betty 2.4. It's sticky, light and I don't get flats with it.

Thanks, but here we don't have schwalbe, the only good tires here are maxxis, so which model... And I am riding stock :)

What pressure are you running? At least on the model I had, the tryall sidewalls were very thick.

I'm on a Maxxis Mobster 42 duro super sticky 2.7 on the back, but they come in 2.5 also. Double wall ftw, I hit my rim every ride and no pinch flats yet on a skinny ass 1 3/8th inch tube from Wal-Marte

Awesome tire. I'm currently trying the Bontrager Big Earl Gum-Bi 2.5, and it's working really well so far.

Kenda tires with the CAP rating are solid too.

Noob fat guy on a minion DH super sticky with multiple rim bashings, ( I'm learning) and still no flats. Check your pressure tho, fine line between flex-grip and pinch flat!!!

And what do you think about Maxxis High Roller 2.5? I have heard good things about it

What width rim you running?
if you put a wide rim on, the phrase "pinch flat" should be non-existent. Pretty much with any tire and any tube.

My rim is Try-All 4.7cm and can you explain me what does "pinch flat" means?

A pinch flat is when your wheel hits something, say a curb. If the tire presure is high enough, the rim should not hit the curb as the air keeps it away. If the pressure is low or the sidewalls are weak, the rim may hit the curb and if the tube gets stuck between the rim and tire, it may be unlucky enough to get cuts (pinch) from the rim. also known as a snakebite

Thanks it is clear now :) Maxxis 2 ply have strong sidewalls, I have ridden maxxis mobster and never have snakebites

i never had trouble with try all tires

i've tried the minion dhr, and found the tire to be extremely hard to control. i find that the rebound is just too slow, and it is very unpredictable. anyone else have this issue?

minion 2.5 DHR super tacky.

best tire ever.

Never pinched in two years.

Doesn't have hardly any rebound, which is why I love it. I hate bouncy tires. Never found it hard to control. Some people like bouncy, some don't I guess.

the only problem i've had with it is that it will bounce me off if i'm running too low a pressure and i'm on a retarded camber and the tire rolls. in other words it's my fault. i love the feel of it though, and i love being able to grip to anything and stay there no matter how gnar or weird the surface is.

i love being able to hop on the rear wheel on a rail, and the rim is going "thud thud thud" on the rail as i set up, then i gap to something else and it makes a bigger thud, this time with the wheel going "spong" because i did it dodgy and landed hard, and only landed on one side of the rim.

but it doesn't matter, and i don't even pinch with a superlight XC tube in there.

Minion is ok if you can't get like Schwalbe Big Betty...super sticky compound and the sidewalls are durable. And it doesn't weigh down like other 2.35 & 2.5 tires. If you can find it cheaper then $60 even better.

On our group rides we tested various tires with slick surface like wet slanted pallets. Schwalbe was the only tire that stuck to the surface. All Maxxis = failure. Michelin Comp 24 didn't stand a chance. The only tire that's stickier is probably Try-All...then again it wears down so quick.

And does DHR super tacky wear quickly? I don't think that try all wears quickly, I have ridden it almost every day for about 6-7 months and it still isnt slick

I've raced DH on Maxxis Slow Reezay and Maxxis DH tubes for years and never once had a flat. On 30mm Mavic rims!
I run this on my trials bike too and I run pretty low pressures. I'd say I rim at least 15 times a ride. I'll flatspot a rim before pinch flatting.
So If your not worried about the crazy heavy weight, then any Maxxis (whatever tread pattern you prefer) in a DH casing (slow reezay has softer rubber, and the rubber rebounds slower to its original form than Super Tacky's) and the Maxxis DH tube should pretty much never flat!

I dont have choice, so I am buying Maxxis. And I dont really care about the weight. Strong tire with softer rubber is what I need :)

I think try-all is very good...
