Being a noob, I have been trying to figure out what works and what won't for a bike. I have finally seen the light and understand what all the OTN members that keep saying "what ever works best for you" means. There is no magic formula just a bunch of variables. So now that I have a basic setup, I have been screwing around with these variables. It is amazing how a little tweak can make such a drastic change in how the bike feels.
The variables (that I can see) that will effect the way your bike handles are:
Tires:
Size
Weight
Compound
Pressure*
Rim sizeStem:
Length
Rise
Height*Handlebars:
Width
Rotation*
Shape
GripsFork:
Length
RakeBrake Levers:
Pull
Position*
Rotation*Drivetrain:
Gearing
Engagements
Pedals
Bash ring(size, shape)
Cranks*= easily adjustable and really does make a difference
So, what have I missed???

Frame Geometry
I wouldn't normally list this, but since you have rake on there might as well have the rest of the frame specs.

He listed rake because you can change it by changing a fork. You can't change the geometry of your actual frame. Everything else listed can be swapped, or adjusted.
I dont see how changing grips can affect trials-ness of a bike
or bashring

Trials-ness wasn't what I was actually looking at as much as the feeling of the bike and comfort on it. I included the bashring, as a smaller one gets you more clearance. As far as the grips, originally I used some crappy grips that I had laying around and felt disconnected from the bike (not to mention blisters). A different set made me feel more attached.
This was just a rambling on changes, that I thought, will change the way a bike feels.

Grips do make you feel a little more stuck on the bike. I have not tweaked my bike much but now that i have fixed some things i may start doing this .
Thanks for the post
might also add that changing the pull of brakes (most easily with cable) does affect how your bike feels because a brake that is pulled closer towards the handlebar holds stronger, therefore locks up better

theres a huge difference in feel between soyos and ourys....
everyone should at least try riding a really thin grip for a little while. it tones in your technical adjustments. then get back to a regular grip before carpal tunnel sets in..
