Has anyone used a mod stem on a stock bike? I think it might help me feel more comfortable on the rear. Any Ideas?
Thanks

I don't recommend using a mod stem on a stock bike. I think it might screw up the geometry. Check your handlebar position, and add some spacers, too.

I run a monty stem on my mod and a short Titec stem with a few spacers on my stock.

I tried using a HiFi stem(sorta mod, 145x25 instead of 165x25) on a friend's alibongo, and it really felt pretty good on the back wheel. However, as soon as you started doing anything involving height, the front wheel was too low and got in the way.

well. i run a stock stem on my mod. i think you should use whatever you think would be most confortable for you.

don't do it unless your bb is atleast 50mm+.

It might feel good for some things like general comfort on the bike but will hurt things.. like trying to get over the front wheel when you have your wheel up on something

if all you want to do is bunnyhop and hop around on your back wheel it would be great, but for anything else, dont do it.

Mod stems are too much!!!get a mtb stem with a lot of rise, they make them in every combination...I use a tall one but, I'm too damn tall.
IE: 40 Degree X 120mm. Would be much better/stiffer than that stack of spacers you're using! :)
