hey guys, i just recieved my new monty ti 2 weeks ago from Tim at Trialsin.com and i thought id post a review of my first impressions of the bike. sorry in advance of no pics, my g/f managed to loose my camera 2 days before i got the bike.

First things first: the frame-

- So we all remember the old x-lites and thier amazing ability to crack into a million pieces, i know, i had one. after welding it twice i vowed never again to buy monty, she broke my heart. well, after some time off away from monty and moving on to new bikes, i kinda wanted to see what shed been up to. after ridden ryan cecils bike in NC last year i knew it would be my next bike. monty seems to gotten their shit straight and put out one hell of a mod bike. after taking an inch out for the rear tri angle in 2004 and moving it to the front of the bike, they made it amazing. the geomentry is the best ive ever felt on a mod bike, which includes for me (99' x-lite, 1st and 2nd gen Brisas mods and the koxx levelboss mod) The bike acts almost as if it wants you to stay on the back wheel and take a break. Did i mention the bike is only 19lbs? yea.........

The Componets-

- being a monty bike, everything you can think of has monty written on it. from the brake levers to the freewheel, overkill, maybe, but how do they preform?

-First and foremost, the tires, and let me say the rear tire is a treat, measuring at about 2.7 in the rear, is a little more than stable, its like using a kickstand on the back wheel. comparing it to a maxxis isnt hard at all. the rubber isnt quite as soft, but sooooo close, and the sidewall is def. more stable imo. as far as the front tire, im really not liking it. it refuses to stick to anything i put it on. youd think theyd make both the tires equal instead of making the rear amazing and the front crap.

-The freewheel made me a bit worried coming from a long line of chris king hubs and being spoiled in that sence. but after the first 3 rides on the bike i didnt even notice not having a billion engagement points. the freewheel is 6 pawls and seems to holding up with no trouble and no skips, knock on wood.

- The steering is nice in having those pimp white monty bars, i prefer them over any curve or buldge bar ive ever ridden, including try-alls, brisas, echo, etc. they just fit well in your hands. some complain they are a bit short but i cant notice anything weird coming from try-alls. the foam grips are weird though, coming from lockons they took getting used to, but leave for a better bar/bike feel. minus the fact i ripped one in half on my second ride, no biggie.

-Dual Disc...........scary? not as bike as you might think, after running maguras in the rear my whole life, i was terrified. espically since the frame dosent accept a rim brake, it was hard for me to commit. and im glad a did. you dont get the sharp lock feeling which is really scary at first, but ends up making you ride smoother. the brake locks just a well as a maggie on a grind. just no noise, and no more grinding, thank god. i was also worried about disc alignment in the dropout but there havent been any issure even after mutiple chain tightenings. might i mention the hope brakes are a custom metalic blue that just looks amazing.

-Final thoughts, was this bike worth $2,500? thats easy, of course, riding trials makes me happy, and i want the best when i ride, so i pay for the best. not only do i feel like the bike is made nicely, i can take the time to see all the detail monty has put into this bike. From having ti spokes where i can use them, to red nipples, red bolts and red snail tensioners. Things like a real paint job with a clear coat, not just raw alu. with stickers. Having my white bars and rims just making it look amazing. Ill be sure to post more updates on the bike, but right now, im very impressed with my purchase.

Big thanks to Tim at trialsin.com for all those hours of the phone tracking my bike, my credit card company for letting me spend lostsa money i dont have......yet, and all you guys on the internet posting videos that made me buckle and buy a new bike after quiting for 6 months after my 5 year stinge.

and here are some pics from tarty-bikes, so you can get a taste-
