Do you put out a jar for tips or something? Something tells me the hundreds of dollars people talk about raking in for demos don't come in that way. I'm putting it on for charity so I won't be getting paid by a company or anything.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You get paid by discussing compensation with the organizer from the beginning. If it's for charity, don't expect anything. The only times I've been paid "hundreds of dollars," I was approached by people who specifically asked how much we charged.

Yeah, I meant to clarify- I don't expect to get any money out of this personally. What I was referring to was the money that is to be donated to charity.

I am trying to organize it :hsugh:

Oh, then just run it like any other fundraiser. Constantly remind people what you're representing and why it's important. Have a place for them to submit cash/checks/whatever you're acccepting. Have information about how they can continue to support or donate at a later time in case they don't want to on the spot... stuff like that.

1. Clarify with any charity organization you are helping out just how much your services are worth.
2. Make it clear to the organization that if anybody asks how it cost them to have you do the demo they respond with X number of dollars. A week after the event you will be nowhere to be found but the organizers will be easily located and asked.
