I run singlespeed with front freewheel 18T, and a rear 16T.
My chainstays are 380mm.

The problem is that I have to use a half link, I cannot use a regular bmx chain. I've used different tensioners as well.

I've broken half links before and they scare me. The thing I want to do is run a chain with its own links without a half link.

Does anyone else with this 380 stays, 18-16 gear ratio have this problem?
Were you able to run the chain without a half link? What tensioner do you use?

You could use the shadow conspiricy interlock v2 chain. Lots of people on here seem to like it. Full half links.

Thanks for the reply!
The chain looks beefier than a typical half link chain.
How long have the shadow conspiracy chains lasted you guys?

I tried that one it did not work for my chain tensioner Surley Singulator the chain was to fat, oh and you need a really good chain separator tool because these chains are strong. The guy at the shop said he rides freestyle and never changed his yet over a year.

if you're using a tensioner. why in the hell do you need a half link?

check your chainline and make sure it's good. if that's way off-center then that could do this. I'm confused as to why you need a half-link though.

yea, the title doesn't match the orig post..

.. but I have a shadow conspiracy chain.. its pretty beefy and I don't have to use tugs anymore for proper tension. I did need to buy a burly chain breaker though.. parktools CT-7 did the trick.

like stated before me, check chainline, cogs.. you're not using a chainring meant for a front derailleur are you, because they have little grooves in them to help the chain jump rings which would possibly cause the chain to skip too..

Because the tensioner won't take up a full link...
