Wtf with those sidehops in the indoor vid?

Didn't anyone ever tell you bringing a tape measure and measuring everything you do was gay!

I dont use a tensioner now , when i put the chain on it was really tight, so i hoped it wouldnt stretch too much . But now it worries me a little, but still its been the best setup ive ever had .

My bike weighs 10 kg .

03-20-2007, 07:58 AM
lol oops...sorry if i misinterpreted the sarcasm...
22lbs tra?? john webster has the only one out here...even in all of my nation..with parts that weight less than bunny terds, and its gotta be about 24lbs=11kg. he said that the frame weighs just as much as his xtp.

did you have any bad times with the rohloff (if thats what it was)???

Can anyone uplaod this to a fster server...every time I download from that koxx server it times out b/c the rate is damn slow!

You can, but it's a pain. I did mine, and ended up doing some janky things, but it works like a champ.

146cm sidehop??? WTF, do that over a bar and it's a worldrecord dude! It looked way more effortless than Benito's sidehop onto a stack of 10 pal, which I've seen personally. And he did it on the short side of the palett, which is a bit easier...

Your skills are almost next to none. So effortless, amazing!

I am going to have to call bullshit if someone is going to say that Beleay can go bigger than that. Or hermance for that matter. That is absolutely ludicrous.

53" to back wheel no problem.

nearly 58" to wheels no problem.

Someone, anyone, tell me what is going on?

Raw power for one...maybe low gravity in Norway or something.

This is what happens when someone with serious athletic ability rides trials. Imagine what would happen in someone from the NFL, NBA or professional gymnastics were to try this sport. Don't worry though, that isn't going to happen.

I am going to go throw a blanket over my bike and call it a day.

Thommy, your going soo soooo big now but realistically with time and practice do you think you will keep improving at the same rate?
Do you think this time next year you could be sidehoping house roofs?
It seems like your rate of improvement is endless?
Does anyone else see this with their spidey-sences?

So TRA is like Barry Bonds. What's wrong with that. And I am not saying he takes anything illegal, I am just saying that he goes big and doesn't care about the technical nuances of competition. He is good enough where he can make that choice. And I am sure if he wanted to focus on wheel placement and mental control he could do that too. But in my opinion, why?

Just riding when he feels like it and making some videos is probably making him as much as if he were world champion. If that is what he likes, keep it rolling.

Further comment on video. It's obscene.

MIKE1968
03-21-2007, 12:04 PM
I was just saying people are always like "he's the best in the world" when a vid comes out...keeping things in perspective.

Cool.

I was just trying to confirm what I was seeing in the videos. Several people were saying that being in person is different than watching the videos. But I watch a lot of videos, (sheer boredom) and I think I can generally tell how big the moves are. I just thought I would try to confirm that TRA is pulling huge moves and it couldn't be that different in person. Once he measured the moves, I think the story was told. But I know competition is a lot more complicated than just one move.

That's all.

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't completely crazy after watching so many videos.

MIKE1968
03-21-2007, 01:49 PM
Well the difference is that the top pros can go that large, 95% of every time they try something on any terrain...no weaknesses.

i guess i am like 90% of us here : tra and some other "no-competitioning guys" ( neil, damon,...) making vids for our pleasure is the best thing ; adding some non-trial stuff like parkour or whatever is also very fun and appreciated.

competitions are not fun : imo tra doesn't fit it this serious thing. Unless there is a redbull-trial to death-competition !!

we like to discover the performance and to know some more about the guy who is riding
just like the vids from crusty demons of dirt : it's not only about moto, even not about competition. ..

nice anology Stefan, it is showboating after all.

I think the fundamental question in some people's mind's: Is competition the best way to boil down who has the greatest performance?

Just a question.

I think T-rizzle kicks ass. Would love to see him take it to Vincent and even my favorite: Kenny.

pav
03-22-2007, 04:03 AM
Guys guys guys,

You should all know that you shouldnt measure a riders greatness by the bigness of the moves that they can throw down.

Its the chicks they get that count!

So far the best girls have been Vinneys girl and Vincos, therefore those 2 are leading the pack!

Patrick
03-22-2007, 09:40 AM
donkey balls. if TRA comes to the states this summer, I might have to go watch:eek3:

I like watching you on this frame alot more than the coust

If performance is riding skills AND mental strength, then yes, cause that is what a comp is all about. It doesn't help to have the best skills (Vincent?) when you're not mentally strong. Could be one reason why Vincent always comes second at the worlds... :dunno:

TRA
03-22-2007, 10:40 AM
or maybe just because kenny is an all round better rider and vincent has alwyas just been more hyped.

MIKE1968

I still think if you ride this hard for another year and don't reach a peak you will take top 20 at least if you find some sections that favor you and you have a good day mentally.

Competition or not, I would like to thank TRA for giving me hope that someone who is larger in stature and body mass can excel at trials. I had been doing some weight exercises, but after watching so many thin and lanky trials riders, I thought trials was just the wrong sport for me. Now, after seeing TRA hit the weights and ride too the extreme ( and on a carbon frame no less), I feel re-invigorated.

Thanks TRA.

Hope you get those new socks too.

PS - please don't tell me you do all those videos for free or just bike parts. That would be a crime.

Get Koxx to cover your expenses, they should, considering how well you promote their product.........also, is there antother server that you can load the video on....I've been un-able to download it from the koxx server because it keeps timing out.

I weigh 93 kg / 205 pounds now . what you weigh LanceT ?

I got 2 bikes when i joined koxx, and if i want a new one i have to sell it and give them the money . Other then that i get all parts broke replaced and able to have a few spare parts. thats it.

I am around 200lbs. But I went through a phase where I didn't want to lift any weights because I thought it was hurting my riding. Now I have new hope and I am back on the bench. (I also got a hernia repaired, so that is good too.)

I think you should be able to get a WAY better deal than that from Koxx. They are taking you for a ride while you ride their bikes for free.
When you ride, people watch, everytime. That should definitely be worth something more than bike parts.

But I know how it is. I work with the French too. They are a little tricky and very business savvy. More than they seem to be.

But maybe riding for fun is good. Get a normal job if you want to make money. Then you can just buy whatever bike you feel like riding.

Whatever you do, keep making videos. I love it.

I'd have to agree with Lance, Thomas. I was watching all the promotional behind the scenes stuff you were doing last year in France and I know you truely love the sport, but don't sell yourself short.

You are one of the best front men in the world. Make sure you get what you need to keep doing what you love.

Are you still running 16t/14t or is that 18t/16t?

TRA. With your riding, i'm sure you'll find waaay more opportunities than 2 bikes with a couple of parts as Koxx gives you. Seriously, with the amount of videos/promotions you do, Koxx is not giving you nearly what you are worth. You should think about teaming up with an ambitious trial rider/business man and help create your own bike company.

Besides, Scandanavia doesnt have a well-known Trials bike company. You can be the first. And you will have ownership of it. And you can finally afford to buy many many socks.

Unless you can find a bike company that treats you like Norco treats Ryan Leech, I would start my own company. But you would have to find the right person.
