I know I'll get some crap for my choice of rear rim, but as I'm not interested in doing 15' gaps to flat it's not a problem!
only my 2nd trials rig and I love it - rear end is VERY flickable!

wide rims arent about strengt, its about having a predictable rearwheel/tire that doesnt wobble around ond steep/uneven grounds and rocks. You can also run lowpressure, having more bounce and it will also absorb impacst.
how much pressure do you run in your rear tire?
i would also get rid of the hs33 in the back and use vbrakes.
or at least run trials pads, grind or use some tar.
If you want to keep it how it is... fine, but you arent doing yourself a favour

yeah cryocube is right : and i recently discoverer that my good old MAVIC 321 is even as heavy as my TRY ALL 40mm : so they're is not interest anymore in narrow rims
wide rims even allows you to mount thin light tire ( 2.1 ) front

some interesting points there Cryo - lemme explain a little more about the bike.
true about the rim: i bought a wide rim so that the 2.5" tyre wouldn't 'roll' on it, but seeing as i ride 100% street, the deal with rocks isn't really an issue. some uneven ground, sure.
i currently run between 35-40psi in the back, though i may drop that down after a while. i'm still not as smooth as i'd like to be and don't want any big ol' flatspots just because i was running a low tyre pressure.
i'm not getting rid of the HS33. i have nothing against v-brakes on the back of a trials bike - i just prefer hydros. i also have a pair of Zoo! green pads waiting, but i need to trim them down to get the correct clearance first. there's no oneed to put a grind on that rim; Zoo! greens and a smooth rim give some of the best grip i've seen.
not sure what you mean by "i'm not doing myself a favour". the bike is setup for street riding and urban trials. i'm not a fan of new-school techniques or geos, so this bike works fine for me. it may not be everyone else's 'thing', but then it's not everyone else's bike either!

oh i didnt know you ride mostly street
if you ride street then a narrow rim will do just fine, but why a 2.5" tire then?. Damn 40psi is alot.

Dang 40psi, thats like popping 10 viagra hard.
me...10psi...I like a flacid tire
Nice bike, middleburns are awesome too eh. There the strongest ethiopian arms on the market.

i'm from Wales in the UK and the frame/fork were a reserve trials bike of an old riding buddy of mine (his main rig is a Zoo Pitbull '05). we arranged a sale and i only just got received the frame last week.
i'll have to get back into riding a trials rig before i embarrass myself in front of any of you guys!!! i've been riding a freeride bike for the last 18months and the new rig feels alien, plus i only rode trials for about 6months before selling my first bike to come over here.
as soon as i have some skills, i'll drop you a line and we'll ride!

i love the older style frames like the Base, PlanetX Zebdi, Echo ES2, Brisa B26, Onza T-Raptor etc...
there's something cool about the old skool!;)

I LOVE the look of that thing. Absolutely sick. (I like the seat mod too. Haha) Nice build. (A buddy of mine ran Halo's on his urban bike, beat the HELL out of them and never had a single problem.)

Good lookin' Base TA26 , I ride one of those , with similar build . They're pretty good value for money once the supplied bashplate has been discarded , and are obedient and stable on the back wheel .
Kinda alone too , as mine's the only TA26 in Holland .

i've got a pair of Zoo! greens ready to go in them, but i've gotta cut them down first (Evo2 mounts are nowhere near as forgiving as the old Evo1s...)
