I'm at a loss. I snapped a brake line when it got caught and crimped. I'm working to replace the line, but the olive won't come out of the slave cylinder. Before I finally ripped the remaining hose to shreds the olive was turning in the slave, but was unwavering in its desire to stay put.
Suggestions on how to get it out without trashing the threads?

Domo Arigato.
(yes, I know the first and last "o"s are longer, but those who don't, would probably not get it.)

Have you tried shaking it upside down?

I know that is a rather simian approach,.. but?

I've tried to pull, twist, shake, pry; with tools as varied as vice grips (on the hose), a series of Allens from 1.5-3mm... basically everything but trying to suck the thing out. I will try a hook-type implement next... unless someone else has a better idea.

Thanks Joel

Have you tried pumping it out by pull out and compressing the pad rapidly by hand? Maybe try covering the hole and creating some kind of compression, if all else fails seems like you could use an air compressor and blow on the opposite end of the cylinder. :dunno: good luck!

Thanks for the insights and suggestions. It was ultimately a drywall screw and a pair of vice-grips that got the job done.

New hose is in and I've a bike to ride again!!!:joshers:

you should cut a thread in it and put a screw, after that you can pull it out i think

I was actually just thinking this and saw you got it exactly that way.
