:eek3danc::eek3danc::eek3danc:. i wonder how much the prices will be. the brakes look so industrial but i think i like them. going to be interesting to see how they compair performance wise. i bet they will retail a little cheaper than magura. i hope that freewheel is cheap as shit. but good haha. i have an order on hold at webcyclery I think I'll ask how much they would sell the freewheel since they are an echo dealer and can find out...? bet you anything its not as good as WI but will be a bit less.

Man, even I am getting a little interested in those echo brakes..

Echo seems to be better this year, much better. Their site looks better aswell :)

I agree the changes do look nice. I'm glad the geo. thing on all manufacturers got a little less wild. To each there own I guess. I am interested in that brake lever. Hopefully I'll see it soon in the US...Anyone know any release dates and price's. I NEED one. I know GIVENTOFLY needs a lever also.

as long as the seals are good, that brake seems cool, I would much rather use that than a magura, *looks a lot stronger. I think I'll still be a vee guy though, still seems to be more advantages.

Freewheel looks fine, but I wont buy one untill they a proven

new bb can take front freewheel, that could interest me.

That low rise bar looks like the bontrager bar I have on my XC bike. I hope they continue to make the old riser bar. It seems like a ton of people like them.

That brake looks a lot nicer than the proto type. A lot more quality.

They also seem to have dropped the HIFI.

i dont see how you can fuck up the brakes, they will probably be pretty awesome. however, kings, much like diamonds, are forever.

Straight up. I looked at the fw and said "that's cool". Then I realized I have a King, and kept scrolling.

Dang, I was on the site earlier today, must have just missed the update.
Yeah, my order from webcyclery is on hold waiting for the next Echo shipment. I wonder if they'll have the new brakes in the shipment? Look beefy!

Those new Control frames almost make me want to get one of those instead of the Adamant.

Im still sticking with the Germans..

I'm really interested in those brakes. Wonder how much and how long until we canucks can get them.

I like it. That stuff needs to be tested by some reputable, un-biased people to see how it is.

It's nice to see a company that re-invests into the sport and develops new stuff, even if they get shit from the riders.

Maybe not on a bike though, he probably just pulled the lever to see it worked?

Deng could have licensed them, or perhaps he found a way to avoid the particular aspect of the maguras that is patented. The patents that I have seen are for the post/quick release aspect that lets you remove the wheel without deflating. In one of their patents...
http://v3.espacenet.com/textdoc?DB=EPODOC&IDX=US6374957&F=0&QPN=US6374957
...previous attempts at a hydraulic rim brake (and their flaws) are mentioned, so maybe the the whole master cylinder / two slave cylinders concept isn't patented. It is Europe, where the patent system is a little more sane than America.

Then again, maybe he's just ignoring it. Go Deng!

With all the engineering and quality control that go into a King hub, I support them completely if they have to go out of their way to stop someone from copying their work. I wish that they were a whole lot cheaper, but I commend them on how good their products are, and I would hate to see some fly-by-night foreign company take advantage of the work that they did by simply making a copy of their stuff.

Not expensive, impossible. A patent is intended to allow a designer/company to profit from a unique idea/design as the fruit of their labor. In most cases around 20 years.

When a patent expires, it becomes common property and usable by anyone with no requirement to pay the originator. That's why it get's published with full detail in the patent office for public knowledge.

This is intended to further benefit society by making good designs more available to the masses for less cost.
