i have a monty hydra 220 frame to build up. the bb shell is off centre. does this require a particular bb/crank set up?
thanks in advance

the shell is off centre from the downtube & centre line of the rear stays. every hydra that i have seen in photos are the same

its prolly made that way so you can still run a more skinny bb but a front freewheel too. see how theres more clearance on the drive side.thas just my "educated"guess.
hope that helps you .

The distance between one edge of the BB shell and the other is still the same no matter where it is in relation to the down tube..... :eek3:

I have a Monty 230 Urban frame with the same off center BB. Monty's site specs it as a FFW

I just replaced this frame in favor of an Adamant A3 long. The BB that was in there was a 68 x 118 square taper with the monty forged FFW cranks. I don't remember if the BB shell was off center, but the combo worked just fine.

Like Rush said the BB will fit reguardless how off center it is in relation to the down tube.....and as the sethman stated its probably of set for Front freewheel use and because Monty likes to do wierd shit too.
where did you get that frame?

i bought it via this forum from 'fallsdownalot'.
thanks so far for your helpful advice. i'm well aware that the bb shell dimensions are unaffected, i just wasnt sure of the reasoning behind it being off-centred.
thanks again
