In reply to a post Tobe put on Farkin..."Last year it was run by a totally different organisation, and it was not for any disciplin pre-entry only. This yeasr EVERY disciplin, including Trials, is pre-entry only."

That's gay, my bet is it will be the lowest trials turnout ever. I hope Craig isn't in charge of it. He will be let down. I'd rather go for a street ride for free without all the whinging that seems to surround comps these days.

It's only comps in your Territory that seem to attract whinging Alex..... I see the entry fee is like $44 too right??? It'd wanna be a great comp for that kinda dollars.....

Regardless, i will catch you guys another time, gonna give Canberra a miss.....

Yeah, the Mont (apart from rego) where you broke your bars and the first Brindabella Challenge comps are the best we have done in recent years. I personally wouldn't go to any more comps if Craig didn't put in so much effort. Poor guy works so hard for so little recognition. Then again, I prefer the social scene to the comp scene as I'd much rather kick it with my mates in the street than trying to put my feet down less than them at some "event".

Should I alert him that no one plans on coming to this comp and he is better to save his time and enjoy himself instead?

I don't speak for everyone when i say I'm not coming......

My bar breaking mont and the first brindy were two of the best competitions I have ever been to, second only to port elliot I think..... Really missed those kinda comps this year......

Alex, PLEASE try to get to the state titles..... You'll be reminded of how fun a comp can be :)

I was always planning on going, even if the comp wasnt so good its still going to a few days of riding with a bunch of mates in Canberra, doesn't sound too bad does it? :greddy:

I'd like to hear from Craig on what is planned for the course before I rule it out.

Craig :wavey:

Just in cas you guys arnt keeping up with the debate on farkin, here's the latest from Demo man:

Just got off the phone with CORC President, Anthony Burton.

"We are in the process of negotiating to build a permanent trials area
including large amphitheaters that will allow more people to watch in
comfort - one of the first of its kind in the world .

We have set aside several thousand dollars to build a trails course (the
trials guys will need to build it)."

He also said that at the moment there are 2 riders entered in the Trials event, so that means that each $33-$44 entry is costing us over $1k. You're right, it's "a huge entry fee" and totally unfair.

Although, I mean the DH course cost $80,000 to build, and there are around 80 entrants at the moment. Pretty good value there too.

It's looking like a pretty good value event at the moment - that's not including the costs of running the race yet either, so damn, you guys are doing pretty well really!

If all this is true then I think the nationals could potentially be a big success at Mt Stromlo, If the materials arrive on site in the next couple of weeks I would be willing to drive down to Canberra and help Craig build some kick arse sections, anyone else?

I'd be in, but I am taking 4 days off work to get the State Titles course sorted so I am going to have to work.... :(

I'm not going this year, first nationals I've missed in three years, but I have a good excuse... my wife and I are expecting a baby and it is due on January 27 so there is no way I'm getting down to Canberra.

I really like the idea of the nationals and would love to see heaps of people going but there has to be some promotion.

I hope it is a success, wish I could go. I'll be there next year.
