an echo or zoo fork with thick steerer tube would be a good choice too
cheaper and not neccessarily weaker

why do you want a cromo steerer...just cuz it might break or what? i just got an 07 GU fork and they are super light w/ an alum. steerer BUT it is super fucking thick so it shouldnt break. and with cromo and aluminum being brazed together it usually isnt nearly as strong as alum. and alum. or steel and steel. if im wrong welding whoever step in...thats just my understanding and observation

What is "super light"? Tarty's weights are usually pretty accurate, and they've got the Gu '07 at over 1000 grams. So that puts it right in the same ballpark, or a little heavier, than say the Koxx or a Monty/Kinesis (another steel steerer fork).

Also keep in mind the koxx fork is +30mm on the disc, which may be a pro or con, depending.

We'll see what happens with the alu steerer forks. The problem with thicker is it is continuously diminishing returns, most of the strength of a tube is from the o.d., not the inner, so they can keep adding thickness until the steerer is solid and only gain modest increase in strength. Maybe someone will jump to 1.25 or 1.5" steerers.
