Has anyone ever heard of or seen titanium rotors? I also heard something about aluminum rotors before- were they any good? I have the ability to make either and was wondering what people think, could they be better than steel or would it be a waste of time?
Thanks

Id hate to hit a titanium rotor on a rock $$$.
You may purchase Titanium rotors for example at Jersey Cycles (http://stores.ebay.com/Jersey-Cycles). There's also a similar shop on ebay.ca called Toronto Cycles.
Al rotors are available at notubes (http://www.notubes.com/product_info.php/cPath/25/products_id/109). They don't recommend them for trials, though.
I can remember that Megamo put Al rotors on their dual disc mods and stocks. The stock even had a 205mm rotor in the rear. Megamos rotors had no coating.

Well the key thing regarding the price is I have a small piece of ti sheet metal(big enough for a couple of rotors). Along with the ti, I have access to a waterjet to cut the rotors.

Then try it! I can imagine that it'd be quite good. But if you are cutting them yoruself, make sure, that you leave enough material to the rotor otherwise it'll explode.
