View Full Version : OTN days 07
so is ttown doing this again? last years was a great success i think. if we start planning this soon, we could have a greater turn out than if we start planning for it in april. i think we should do it in a dryer month, i dont remember when it was? other than that buffalo park was a perfect venue. unless someone wants to do it in cali or east coast..which might be ok, but CO is for OGs, so you are going to have to come up with a good argument for anything outside of co or wyo. :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah:

If its somewhere outside of CO, my chances of making it increase exponentially.
I'm a bitch, pretty much leave vacationing decisions up to the other half.
Since we just went to Montrose in June, it would be hard to convince her to go back, compounded by the fact that it would be like 562 douche bags on bikes( :bigthumb:) I.E. nothing for her to do

What about an east coast OTN days and a west coast one? Thunder Rocks where Raccoon Rally is held could be pretty good. Or Rockport. Lots of stuff in New England could be day-tripped.

This is definitely true. I have fun there and I suck. There's stuff for everyone.
As for camping, there's a camp ground not too far in Gloucester I believe.

Yea theres a campground thats not to bad... http://www.cape-ann.com/campsite/ and theres riding all around the immediate area as well ...Rockport is maybe 15 minutes by car for the Campground...not to mention miles Of shoreline with yummy granite and a kick ass beach literally 1 minute from the campground entrance.
Theres also lots of Northshore type riding directly behind the campground... a close personal friend of mine owns the land and it's rideable by permission only .....so who ever comes down get's a free pass.... theres lots of technical single track and about 20 or so bridges, ladders, skinny's and such to ride if you want some trail action. http://www.dieselbikes.com/trails/bat/bat_trails.htm (check the media page for vids)
Boston is 45 minutes From Gloucester and is chock full of urban and college whores. plus there's a train that leaves every hour to shuttle your drunk arse home.
Rockport is well....... Insane natty.. all you have to do is look at Erik's pics...but even they dont do the place any justice ...you get down there and it's overwelming how much there is to ride and the shore line goes on for miles...It's truely kick ass.
im liking the right coast idea. mostly because ive never been east of salina kansas other than on an airplane. how is mid august weather around there?

Hot, but there's potential for a nice breeze off the ocean.
There's so much kick ass rock riding up there, it's totally overwhelming. You'll get wood as you start driving up Rt. 128. Granite everywhere.

interesting, I was just planning on making a post about this.
I am definitely going to do the Buffalo creek thing again. I had a good time doing it last year, and I figure with a little bit of planning we could get a much bigger turn out.
Its a good spot, and I have already been sending some emails about getting some prizes together.
Just gotta figure out the date. I want to do it basically the same weekend, but I can't find all the information on the pertinent schedules (NATS, other MTB races, etc) so I didn't want to pin down a particular weekend yet.
I see nothing wrong with doing two. I would fly out to rockport in september (graduated whatwhat:wavey: )

Seattle? Boise? Cali?
I'm not done with Columnaid Trials park,.. maybe Seattle '09? Honestly we'd be better off with Vancouber in the NW,.. but there are competitions for that. CRANKWERX FTW!
So all I ask is that the date be a reasonable amount of time away from crankwerx.
There's been some talk of a few of us going to Japan in August? I think I may be out of my league on that though,.. keeping it interstate will be more riding for the $$dorrah$$.

Are we shooting for August still? I have limited ability to leave my job between the 10 and the 18th, due to others taking vacation.
If we're shooting for weekends, I'd say 5,6,7(preferably) or 24,25,26. I may have a really hard time making 10,11,12. Any other weekend in any other summer month should work though.
However, I am willing to try to make 10,11,12 if it works better for others.

Last year this was held in July right?
This year EastOTNdays is shaping up to be August.
Crankwerks/WestOTN will be early July like last year if I remember correctly.
ttown wanted it around the same time as last years, so we are shooting for early august. its either going to be 8-4/5 or 8-11/12 unless it is to be in late july, which could workd. if i were you id pm ttownjon and ask him what his plans are if he doesnt reply in here soon.

I've got culture coming out my ass, it really is the amount of riding with friends for $$$ that I'm interested in. Japan would be baller but for the price of one trip there I could get all three OTN days and pick up a beater car for local camping. hmmm pretty much have my mind made up it seems...
