will any americans make it out? The only reason I go is for the people, definitely not the riding.

If by chance I'm out there around the same time again, I'll definitely rent a car and make it back to Buthiers. I won't know until Feb though...

GO AMERICA!!!

DO IT FOR AMERICA.

im just saying that it isnt worth it. last years koxx kamp sucked. the pros wouldnt ride with you, no one actually taught anyone anything. and the food was absolutely horrible.

05 koxx kamp, at least the pros would ride with youy and serg would take all the time you needed to teach you somthing. and hte food was good.

:werd:

The only way you could possibly make it worth while is if you rent a van, camp with the Brits, and make your own food. If you can do this for under $2000 you are the man.

Otherwise,.. I'm putting my monies on the Japan trip. BIU WORLD ROUND FTW!

If you all have ideas to improve next KOXXDAYS, then dont whine about it here, send emails to KOXX telling them how it should be.

If they do as the public says it might be the best koxxdays ever? but they need your info.

pro`s to ride more with public
better food(what food should it be then?)
better weather
serg beeing more active in teaching

any more?

'05 the food was "fantastic". '06 the food was absolutely inedible, I have no idea why it changed but it wasn't good. I didn't really care as long as I found things in town...not food things.

I am thinking of going, money is the major issue...

Any canadians know how much money it usually is to go for the full week?
If I go I want to get the most riding possible, so I would do the koxx camp? Place to stay?

Thanks!

It is about CAD$700-800 for the return flight. I wouldn't bother with Koxx Camp dorms, they are a waste of money.

You have two options:

option 1 - on a strict budget
Bring a tent and camp for free. There are showers on site, but bring your own towel(s). There is a good pizza place and a small grocery 10 minutes bike ride from Buthier. This is all you really need food-wise.

cost:
-train from airport to Buthier - i dunno maybe 10 euros each way
- food, per day - 10-15 euros per day depending on how much you eat.
- Competition - 25 euros for the comp, something like that.

total cost, flight and accomodations, food, comp : CAD$1000-1200 per person

option 2 - cheap

When I went, I rented a car in Paris and stayed at a hotel about 20 minutes away from Buthiers. The cost of the hotel was 35 euros a night, and the room (very small but clean) sleeps up to (barely) three people. There are several grocery stores where you can buy food. The car was about 50 dollars per day.

total cost, assuming you have three people to split the cost of the hotel and the car: around CAD$1400 per person

Cool,

So is riding Buthiers during the training camp free if you tent? You only pay for the cabins?

lucky13
12-06-2006, 03:46 PM
Sure,...

I had heard that they were supposed to pay for tenting as well,.. but it sounded like the UK camp just did what they wanted.

Any Trialsforum guys care to comment?

Elan
12-06-2006, 03:56 PM
of course koxx wants you to pay them for camping there, but no one can do anything about it if you just roll in and camp over the hill with the brits and ride all day in the legedary buthiers for free wiht riers youve only seen in videos and maybe in your gay dreams. you can also just show up and eat their food, if you think you can stomach it. its owrth it though, like andy said, and not because of koxx, because of the people woh show up and make it a good time.

its looks like some Canadians might be coming this year.

a few Canadians went last year Dave,JK,Bodo,Carsinn and myself.

the terrain is incredible for riding, and you will never get a chance to ride with the as many pros at once ever again.

This 10-day trip was 500$ cheaper than my grad trip to cancun for 7 days. The food was disgucting, mostly dry pasta and bread, but hopefully they have taken care of that.

And ya, there is a good time to be had at night if you know the right people:bigthumb: .

I think my fav part was Ed filling the sink one night, or maybe how great Elan's better half and I got along.

Camp Britania is the way to go.

OTN days seems like a better idea to me, but the riding in France is pretty mind blowing good, funny how most of the folks posting here didn't do too much of that.

Moment Designs
12-19-2006, 12:04 PM

With good friends from japan, england, the netherlands, belgium....no, not really.

+ you are friends with them from hanging out, not riding bikes. Or I could have stayed with one person the whole time and try not to meet anyone, just ride my bike on some rocks...I didn't even have a bike there though.

Life experiences > some training on a bike. I could go back any time and ride those rocks. I could never go back and have the same experiences- same goes for the year before.

Kind of like if you went to college and never went out, only studied for 4 years. Waste of a life.

Saw Serge posting so I thought I'd give him props where props are due:

He would teach if you were persistent and stuck with the young French crowd when they would go out after breakfast. He helped me analyze my pedal technique, wheelbase spacing/placement, and how to put more body language into sidehops.

All that and he was very patient with my inability to speak French. :x:

...OH and sitting on the steps of the main building with Serge, Modtire, beer and cigarettes talking about the old skool of European trials was BALLER.
