Hi all,

what are cheap and reliable ways to send a bicycle (26" trials bike) from Townsville to Sydney?

On my trip from Townsville to Sydney, I will spend two weeks in Fiji and I do not want to take my bike there. That's why I want to mail it down to Sydney.

The local post office wants to charge around 150$ :eek3:, which is way too much.

It would be pretty cool when I could send it from Townsville and pick it up two weeks later somewhere in Sydney.

Any hints?

Cheers,
Sebastian

If you find a cheap way to send it i have plenty of room at my house to store it until you arrive. you could send it to my work(channel 9) then i could take it home and store it in my garage. thats if you feel comfortable leaving it with a complete stranger though............:run:

You're more than welcome to ship it to City Bike Depot in Sydney.... I'll hold onto it here for a while if you like.....

We generally use Clipper freight for all our stuff and they are super reliable... Not sure about price though....

Thanks for your help!

For the archives:

Pack & Send wants to charge me 180$ for sending the bike from Townsville to Sydney.

Greyhound charges 65$ plus 8$ when you want the package to be delivered to someone. When you travel with your bike, the bike costs only 25$. This seems to be a reasonable price. I still have to check, whether they include any insurance.
