My freind just got a Echo team and i was riding it around a lil and noticed i couldnt hear anything from the freewheel. Is there such thing as a silent freewheel? Seems pretty cool. That combined with dual disc and youd have a pretty quite trials bike.

im worried now thats its a shimano or a dicta freewheel...which are shit.
when i got my monty i had a fuckin dicta on there and it was pretty quiet...then it decided it was a good idea to freespin both ways.

loud freewheels are better freewheels. if they're quiet they probalby have crappy springs, little pawls or are full of grease. my freewheels go CLACK CLACK CLACK and i know they're engaging. peace of mind.
my bmx goes ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

He was talking about my freewheel... I have noticed that sometimes when I pedal kick I hear a loud click and it skips a pawl or whatever its called.
Is it just a crappy freewheel or is it messed up?
This is my bike...

So it has a rear rim cracked in 2 places, a cracked frame, a dented in front rim and a freewheel that apparently has problems...maybe it wasn't as great a deal as I thought.

Maybe? lol
Just buy a 30 dollar ACS klaw bmx free wheel and ride until the rest of your bike falls apart.

Those hubs are silent:
True Precision Hubs (http://www.trueprecision.net/c_products_mountain.html)

Instantaneous Engagement System
They are very expensive, and hard to find.

:naughty: my chris king hub is somewere in the middle of the scale of freewheel noiziness :weak:
Oh, yeah.. avoid Dicta at all costs. I have had ACS freewheels last a decent time in lieu of the price. I also stay away from the Shimano BMX freewheels, though it is only based on others' experience.
I had the AC 15T freewheel on a BMX setup that I sold. In that application it seemed okay.
Apart from the White freewheels, I would like to give the Try All ones a test, though I am using cassette hubs these days.
