Last I talked to edge, he said prolly spring. I think we should have an "unofficial" comp down at barton springs in austin. I'd offer to set up most of it, but I don't have enough experience yet to tape off good lines.
Jeff, do you think anything will materialize of the offer from the peeps who run the flatrock ranch race to do a trials comp there?
I need to find the contact info for Flatrock Ranch. To be honest though, I'll probably focus more attention to Tishomingo. It will be a very easy comp to set up. I'll post details soon.

Come to Austin. It would be cool to get a comp going down at camels hole.
would you show up and compete? how many people in Austin still ride besides Weyman? The McCall sisters? It would be difficult to choose Austin over Tishomingo.

Lets have Tishomingo an official comp(cuz that place looks amazing!), and sometime have an unofficial comp in A-town. Unofficial, just because its on city property, and they may frown on less than 2 wheels on the ground in that park.
How many riders are in Austin and the surrounding area now? Since it is an un-official comp, you should set it up. It would be a great learning experience for ya. I'll even provide the awards. How about that.

Someone else besides Edge should set up a comp. before he gets tired.
My experience is that he's gonna burn out quick being the ONLY guy who will do this these days(a fucking thankless task) unless all of the comps are at this OK. spot from now on( lay out tape and ride).......Jump right in and do it, there is no right or wrong.....have a good and better class division, tape off some lines(no one cares in Zilker Park) bring beer and people will love you......hand out cigarettes, alchohol and tampons for prizes, nobody cares what they get. It don't have to be all that. and you don't NEED a T shirt.
Bottom line........younger guys never set up comps?WTF?
When you get older there is less and less time to do this stuff, so...step up!
The Flatrock ranch guys won't give you support and don't have trials obstacles; they just wanna entertain the cross country fags for a while and I don't think it'd be worth it, a fun comp in Zilker would be a blast though, just for us......and I'll tape off lines any day....lots of experience at it, you do the rest.
That's what I wanted to hear. Weyman did this for years. I'm willing to go all out this year but I need the riders to show up. Texas is a large place. We need someone in the south area to take care of comps. Someone in the north area. Split it up between 3 or 4 people willing to do this. I love organizing comps, but I also love riding in them too. We can do low key comps very easily. I'll save all the awards, shirts swag and stuff for the bigger ones like Rock Springs and Tishomingo. The more people involved with setting up comps the stronger we will be.
just to give credit where it is due, I COULDN'T set up any of these without the help of certain people. Stan, Patrick and Weyman. Thank You. If you helped out and I missed your name, Thank You.

Weyman and Edge, so you have a ton of experience w/ comps, other than setting up lines and getting score cards and handling registration and scoring, What else is necessary for setup?
shit, lets just tape off some lines, pay say a $15 registration fee(prize money), and just ride then drink. Caution tape and refreshments is all we really need, right?
That's about it for a low key comp. You really need to focus more on Promoting it. Get the riders involved and excited about it.
Campbells Hole Trials Comp
Self Supported
No registration
15$ each Top 3 in sport and expert take the cash or spend the money on beer.
Section Tape
3 sections 4 loops (you could even set up 1 section for sport and expert then split it where expert does one thing and sport does something a little easier)
That way you would only be setting up 3 sections total. Run one loop one way then the next loop the opposite way. Just throwing out suggestions for you.
Spend a hour taping the sections then have fun. Natural comps are the best.
I'll provide the score cards and what section tape I have left.
you could also set up 2 sections at campbells hole, 2 at Mt Bonnell and 2 at H.E.B. Run each section twice then move on. I think Weyman did this some time ago. Have yourself a traveling comp.

Shit, if everyone is down with informal, toss the tape on the ground and drink type of comp, then we should have a "comp" at Tishomingo on the 18th.

I will come to Tisho for the 18th. I will also participate in an Austin comp. I only know a few trials riders around here and it is very hard to get anyone to ride. However, I will help lay lines, ect.. I can probably get some support from some people from Bicycle Sport Shop as well.

The shop would help? I doubt it, but that would be cool. So I'm all for this, I know some lines there that would be cool and challenging, just need to pick a date. Does everyone wanna do it sooner(next 3 weeks) or later(christmas?)
date? tishomingo on the 18th :naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty:

Exercise caution when buying a used aluminum frame or spend less than a $100.
Ross took care of that frame. It should be good for you.

Sounds good. Weekend after the 1st? I've got some people from the sports shop committed to helping with lines, shwag, ect.. I'm going to get some flyers made and posted around the shop/9th street/others, as soon as we set a date to let everyone else know.
I just got my new hope pro2 hub built today and its amazing how much difference more engagement/lighter hub makes.

For any one who is interested, I will be in charge of the event at Bar-H again next year. I know that my job got in the way of the Steed Event, but I hope to put on an acceptable event. Tia said that there was an area that was natural that we could use and I will be trying to get it up to snuff in time for next april.
P.S.
Any one know where I can get some derailleur hangers for my woodman?

Hey, I'm moving back to Arkansas (from northern New York) early next year and I am looking to start riding biketrials again. I spent some time in the expert and later in the pro ranks getting my ass handed to me by JJ Gregorawitz and the like back in the NORBA days, but I'm 26 now and I haven't riden in a couple years,... so I'll be spending a few months at the least brushing off the rust and trying to catch up on the "new school style" riding. Anyway, I want to ride as many competitions as possible. AR is close, but Texas might be my new stomping ground in summer 2007 anyway. I plan on showing up to as many TX competitions as you guys put on. I'll show to group ride days and anything else biketrials related in the area. If you plan it, I will come.
