I have both the surly and the king cogs. The Surly is a shade thicker than the king. I must admit that the king looks much nicer, but the surly has smaller holes and is heavier. The bevel at the top of the tooth on the surly is more shallow than the king. Is this an important factor? I have a king rear hub with the steel drive shell, so I will use the king, but the surly seems more substantial. any thoughts?
Thanks
mis spelled cog, oops to many beers again.

i think some would say that is the best thing you can do with a surly cog. So many threads about this stupid cog.

I love mine though (after grinding the crap out of it...)

haha, fortunately, after swearing for several minutes, I realized I had a King cog that was only one tooth less, so I never did anything with the surly anyway. I wonder if they might have?

My 15t surly is a lil loose on the driveshell, is that normal???? Scares me, but it's pretty solid.

I run 16-13 ratio on my Vinco, and have had zero problems with the Surly cog running with a koolchain.... I had to grind a King cog to get it to run smooth.... I think thats a lot more to do with the ratio I run than the quality of the cogs though

There is no way this can be unless your don't have enough spacers and your lockring is maxed out. (i.e. there is not enough pressure on the cog to keep it fixed)

Never had problems wit the surly. I know 3 people who had it without a problem too.
Some people seem to have skipping problems though, no idea why

I think he means front to back, and mine is like that too.
