Alright guys i've been riding trials for like 4-5 years now and i think i want to venture into a street trials rig since my pitbull is showing signs of failure. Problem is i dont know of any trials/street rigs out there...aside from the 24UK.
Is custom the only way to go?
Thanks for the input.

im having the same problem ive looked all over but it seems like theres no street trials frames in production right now.. everything seems to be single speed with super short chainstays and no seat post.. i keep getting told to look into a zebdi but those havent been in production for a good 2 years as far as i can tell, and i really dont want to get something thats been used

Have you looked at the Norco Moment? The older team trials also had somewhat streety geo. Ellsworth also made an interesting frame. There's a few different planet x's, maybe a Ghost or tibo? I believe the tibo was made for basically just this market. You might be able to find one knockin about.

The Zebdi has sextacular geo. I can't possibly see what you don't like about it. It is the best street trials 26" I've ever laid eyes on.

well considering practically every zebdi i've heard about has snapped or cracked quicker then other frames it turns me off to the idea. plus my friend had one and it didnt feel comfortable on it.

For over a year, I kept a trials bike and a bmx, but I found it inconvenient: the two extremes limit what you can do when you're out riding, and often I'd struggle with which bike to take out. So, I built up a 24" and don't regret it for a second. Seriously, it's the best of both

I know Meliec isn't the greatest company but I would talk to them about making you a custom frame. Their prices are very nice and you can pretty much get exactly what you want.

If exactly what you want is a 1200 wheelbase with a +80 bottom bracket.

is curtis still around? they made a killer 24 out of the UK. but I guess curtis and leeson are both expensive. I hear DMR has great geo and is really cheap. I have been thinking seriously about building up a 24" while also noticing a substancial lack of funds. If I were to buy a 24" I would probably contact ground up or go with a 24UK.

If I had the money, I'd get something like this... and after riding nic's.. I'm almost half considering it..

I rode the model before the moment the ryan leech signature nearly same geo like moment! I snapped mine at the chainstays with a 360°....
Go for an Ashton Justice!....rides better in street than an
24uk (ask felix :naughty: ) and is also very good for trials!....
you will get bored soon of pure street ridin!

I took a spin on my new justice today, and I would say the same. The best frame period! Does both things really well.
... Now I just need to wait to get those heatsink adapters so I can have a rear brake! :wiggle:

oh yeah, what about revell bikes?

Well I have some really old echo fork from like 2001, which has very little rake, and is 410mm to the crown. With this fork my wb is 1035. With a 80-90 stem and this setup you will have one fine "do everything bike". Don't forget those dh bars though. I run a 710mm bar that has 50mm rise. If you wish to check it out, it is the Bontrager King Earl bar.
But since my type of fork is not sold anymore, I would say get a planet x fork. Those don't have too much rake either.

they are about $700 cnd, about the price a good trials frame was back in the day before every company started producing cheap cnc peices of crap.

ok i'll give the dimensions that im looking for
26'' or 24'' doesn't matter
1025-1040ish wheelbase, 15"ish chainstays and roughly a 0 to + 10ish bottom bracket rise.
anything out there aside from the 24UK?
oh and i plan to run a rigid fork (either suspention corrected, or regular rigid fork)

Contact Meilec, they will make almost anything for ya. Don't believe all the gosip on the net, the company does have bad points but for the price, you can't beat them.:h5:

Man, all those street frames are designed around 3-4" travel forks, meaning that with a rigid, your BB will be so low, the track racers will get a woody. Most of them also have retarded head angles (69*) and long stays.

go look at nemesis project. Brad Hodges out in california does some sweet street frames, 26 and 24. He has production bikes, but if you contact him directly, he can give you pricing on custom frames. He's pretty cool to talk to.

i think im going with the 24uk.
I currently have a Santa Cruz Jackal as an urban/DJ setup. It's got a 69.5º headtube, about a 1035WB, and 16" chainstays. I have put a rigid fork on it (One-One/PX Superlight 425mm) and that does steepen the head tube angle to a nicer degree. The standover is fantastic, but the talk here has me thinking about its limitations. The very heavy wheelset I have is likely a big cause of my frustration, but I can't do anything about the BB height.
I do have a real stock trials bike, so this setup is a compromise for more versatility. It depends upon how much of a range you want, I suppose. I do look at those Ashton Justice frames and think about how I could build one of them up as a more urban/street oriented bike.
If you have a good idea of what you want as far as geometry is concerned, then custom is the way to go. The cost of a custome steel frame is really not going to be as much as you would think. If you go with a builder who is fluent in the trials and urban areas (or whatever you may be leaning towards), they will know the right questions to ask as far as where you intend to ride and how to adjust everything for you.
