View Full Version : Boa tire clearance

I just bought an '03 boa for a few cheap thrills, but I'm wanting to upgrade a few things on it. It's got a Rhyno Lite on it right now, but with a 2.3 tire (some random cheap bike store brand), the tire clearance is already pretty iffy (rubbing on one side if very, very slightly out of true). I'm wanting to switch to a wider DX-32, but I'm having a hard time figuring out if it'll fit or not. I find it kinda hard to believe that a 3 or 4 year-old trials frame can't take a DX-32, but you never know.

Anybody owned a boa in the past care to testify on clearance?

Perhaps the wider rim will help flatten the tire, thus giving me a bit more room where the stays start to narrow?

:dunno:

Thanks!

I used to run a boa with a 47mm Koxx rim and a 2.5 maxxis tire. It did fit, though the clearance was pretty tight. You shouldn't have any problems fitting a DX32 in there.

Think about it this way: The Boa has the same bb/chainstay connection part that the old Pure has. And you surely have seen a Pure with a wide rear rim?

Wierd, something seemed out of wack, but I guess I'll go for it.
